iirc HIIT is said to be the best for fat loss, paticularly if you want to maintain muscle mass.
not really, both HIIT and steady-state cardio have their merits and work for different people

Then change your friends? Weird situation I guess, but if my friends were pressuring me into binge drinking, then I wouldn't consider them my friends.Alough I agree that he should stop getting wasted, just to sort of back him up a bit there is a lot of peer pressure. I mean most of my m8s are like that and when you kind of avoid getting wasted it can cause problems. However im not diagreeing with your in any way, just thats probly his problem, peer pressure.
If I cut down on pints and stick to vodka trebles/alcopops on nights out, will that help?
As I understand it, the sugars would be easier to burn off. But you would have to do the exercise to burn them relatively soon after your drinking. Perhaps within 24 hours?
Can any one more knowledgeable discuss this?
The most sensible way to approach this whole subject is to look at the overall calorie intake. Trying to convince yourself that drinking sugary drinks is better than pints if you exercise within 24hrs isn't the right mentality.
A pint of lager contains ~200kcals and a double vodka and diet mixer is ~150kcals but if you have that double vodka with full fat coke its calorific as a pint (if not more so).
It matters little to most people how those calories are delivered....in basic terms too many calories and you get fat!!
