I have two harddrives, 500GB primary and 250GB 'media' HDDs.
My motherboard (Asus P7P55D Evo) has:
"Intel® P55 Express Chipset built-in
6 xSATA 3.0 Gb/s ports
Intel Matrix Storage Technology Support RAID 0,1,5,10
JMicron® JMB322 (DriveXpert Technology) :
- 2 x SATA 3.0 Gb/s ports (navy blue and gray ports)
- Supports EZ Backup and SuperSpeed functions
*Drive Xpert function is available only when the hard disk drives are set as data drives."
Will I see better performance if both drives are in the P55 ports? Or if both are in the Jmicron ports? I think one is in the Jmicron and one in the intel, due to my long gpu, will that be slowing down my cross drive copying etc?
Also, will my HDD access speeds or 'general performance' increase if I install:
Intel(R) Rapid Storage Technology Driver Software V10.5.0.1026 (latest), Intel(R) Matrix Storage Manager Driver V8.9.0.1023 (latest), if I use the intel ports;
JMicron JMB36X Controller Driver V1.17.51.2 (latest) if i use the Jmicron controller ports,
My harddrives work fine, so I guess they're not essential drivers, or does Windows 7 install these automatically? If they're optional drivers/software, will they make my drives faster?
