Im currently in the midde of overclocking my i7 920, i fancy using ibt as a quick stress tester. My questions are.

1, should i select maximum stress level.

2, how many threads, (currently on auto)

Im not to familiar with ibt having mainly used p95 for stability testing in the past. Thanks in advance.

I haven't used IBT for a while now, but when I used to use it, there was a bug where when using i7 processors you had to select 16 threads, because when you used 8 threads it didn't fully load the processor.

And as for the stress level, I always used the max setting.

I don't know if this bug is still present or not, but that was the reason I started using LinX instead, as it uses the same testing method as IBT (Linpack) but it doesn't have the 8 thread bug.

Thanks davy, been doing a bit of testing with p95 small fft in the meantime, passed over half an hour at both 3.2ghz and 3.4ghz, ive upped the bclk to 173x21, will give ibt a quick blast to see how it fares, havent had to change the voltages from lowest settings so far, (1.18 vcore), vtt, 1.21250 and 1.8 pll.

Ran ibt for 10 passes (will probly try more later), passed fine, max temps recorded, 58-53-56-53.

Those temps are really good mate.

And your Vcore is excellent to for 3.6GHz, what do you have your Vtt set to?

VTT is set to 1.21250, CPU-PLL, 1.800. Cooling is a TRUE black with 2 x 400-1200 rpm pwm fans.

I've finally got my new build up and running, under custom water, the temp difference is amazing!!

Running LinX at 4GHz, and my load temps didn't exceed 60c!!

Very nice:), youll have to get a few pics up so we can get a look at it mate, thinking about going with cusom water myself. Gotta get a few funds gathered up first, in the meantime im gonna have a crack at hitting 4ghz on my current air setup.

I am really happy with it tbh, I never ran into any major issues with setting it up neither, the only thing that freaked me out was my pump kept cutting off and on when I started leak testing, but I managed to trace the fault to a frayed wire beside the molex pin, so I just got the soldering iron out and its been fine ever since.

After the new year I'm gonna buy the EK UD5 blocks and put the mobo under water as well, and I also want to change my rad for a Thermochill PA120.4 and 120.2 at the same time.

By the looks of your results so far, your chip will easily do 4GHz on air..

Looking very nice davy, you gotta love the TJ07 for watercooling, seems to be a very popular case. Glad to hear that it all went smoothly.

Yeah, loads of people use this case, and now I see why!!

I want to have the internals powder coated at some point in the near future as well, but again, this is something that's gonna have to wait until the new year.

What colour are you thinking of for the internals? Like yourself im gonna have to put a few upgrades on hold until the new year, hopefully ill be able to change my case to a corsair 800d before christhmas though.

Gonna get a nice red finish, and I will get the PCI covers on the case, the two bars at the rear of the case and my CFP51 finished in black.

I've seen a TJ07 with a similar finish on another forum, but without the black touches, and it looks really nice, so hopefully my one turns out just as good!
