Just some quick questions.

This year im going to buy a PS3, i have a xbox 360 but with prices now good and games coming this year it seems a good idea to get one, not just for games but for blu ray as i have a 40" tv

right now there is a 40GB model which i know is a cheap stripped version, if i remember correctly does it not look the same as the 60GB as in the glossy look?

When is home roughly being released?

When is the 80GB hitting the stores?

I think it's just the front panel that has a different finish.

Home could be anytime next year.

80gb model hasn't been announced for the UK, I'd expect it to happen but I have no idea when.

Mattitude - 40GB version is Gloss Black the only difference cosmetically is the Silver, on a 60GB it's Chrome. The 80GB is all hearsay atm so nothing concrete.

Thanks Jblock cleared it up lol i had the impression it was a matt black all over

define SACD's.

well i probs wont buy one now, maybe another price drop round april for MGS? ill probs buy one in march or april

The 60's can still be had from the high street..

The only real difference is the 2 USB ports and the silver on the DVD tray isn't a mirror coating, more a matte silver effect.

You know the hard drive is simple to upgrade anyway, so just get a 60 and whack in a 250GB+, or failing that do the same with the 40GB model if you can handle the lesser features (no PS2 support)

I think the matt sliver looks better than the chrome, but thats down to personal choice i guess..

The thing that most puts me off about the 40gig is no PS2 support... but no other version available at the mo :(

I have a 40gig ps3 (already own a ps2 slimline, so dont really care about the backwards compatibility). cant say that missing the card reader or 2 of the usb slots has detracted from the experience to be honest.

I prefer the matt-silver look of the 40gb to the chrome of the 60, but thats just personal preference.

I would have semi-liked the PS2 b/c but not that big a deal, I miss playing God Of War II though. :(

USB ports/Card reader don't bother me in the slightest however.

Why not just add your own hard-drive as an upgrade when you need to.

Think its silly why they removed the USB/Card reader, comes in dead handy for me with quick n handy transfers.

Its still got usb ports?
You just stick the usb key in one of those?

Everything else can be done over wireless.

ive always wondered why sony droped the b/c as supposidly it only costs them about a $1 per machine. But then i remembered the new ps2 thats coming out which would explain something i guess
