Few questions about hosting and applications

I've recently bought some space which I'd like to use to host my pictures and some general files. Ideally I'd like to be able to bulk upload pictures, have a secure area and also have the facility to link them to a forum. I'd also like to have an FTP setup with the ability to support a few accounts.

I'm a complete n00b at this so have no idea what to do. Are there free off the shelf applications that can do?

1. Bulk Upload - FTP will do that.
2. Secure area - If you want to password protect a directory or even just prevent it from being indexed, .htaccess is your friend. Read up on it.
3. Multi-User FTP - That's entirely up to the company you got your hosting from. Most that I've seen allow it and it's set up through the control panel.
