Few Questions Before I Upgrade My GPU

Hi there, just need a few questions answering before I take the plunge and buy this card:

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-332-AS

1) I have a 7970 at the moment, is this going to give me a big performance boost?

2) I have a Xigmatek Asgard Pro Gaming Case and a GIGABYTE GA-Z77-D3H Intel Z77 motherboard, will it fit?

3) Will a 550W XFX Pro Core Edition 80PLUS Bronze Power Supply be ok?

4) As I'm using an AMD card now I'm guessing all I will need to do is uninstall the drivers before I place my new GPU in and just install the NVIDIA drivers and I'm ready to go, correct?

Sorry about asking what are probably stupid questions but it's a lot of money and I want to make sure it's a good purchase haha :D

Thanks a lot.

Hi why not this asus card which is basically the same card, not overclocked(do it yourself) for £30 cheaper.

1. see for yourself performance difference.

2. 'as you can see, the asgard pro can easily take on large cpu coolers and graphics cards, but the latter is only possible if you are willing to sacrifice hard drive bays.' from this review.

3. Yes
4. According to Asus the card requires 375W extra for itself. :D

In regards to power requirement's. It should be plenty. Don't be running furmark while overclocking though. I would think of getting a bigger PSU at some point though.

As for how you go about installing a new card since you are planning on going from AMD To Nvidia I suggest doing a fresh format. Although that being said you should be able to just remove all AMD drivers and install Nvidia.

And finally as some food for thought: have you thought about adding a 2nd 7970 (280x) instead of the 780ti? You would have to get a larger PSU, but you will be saving yourself £200 (minus what ever the 7970 is selling for if you choose to sell it) and the performance of the two cards is going to be better than 780ti.

Thanks for the reply.

That's good to hear, I will definitely be getting a new power supply somewhere down the line.

What do you mean by fresh format?

That is something to think about but I've read a lot of people have a lot of problems with running two GPU's so it's kind of put me off a little.

The only thing I'm worried about now is if the card will actually fit in my case!

honestly I'd want a bit more power for PSU for going something like 780TI......

Now if you're not going to upgrade for a couple years; I can see getting 780 TI; but to me not worth the price over the 290......:) I'd get 290; OC it and call it a day with several hundred left over in my pocket ;)

also no one's bothered to ask; what's your screen size? what are you playing at?

Thanks for the replies. I think I'm going to stick with the 780ti as I will be wanting to buy an Nvidia Shield in the future :D

Hope I'm happy with this buy, it's a lot of money!

lol; I wouldn't spend that amount for something like that :D as streaming can be done on other tablets also.....:) I'd pocket the change; upgrade a few other parts with price difference; like psu ssd if you don't have one :D

you also didn't say what res you are playing at
