Im a bit lost and have read thru most of the 360 topics in here...

I have a normal tv and a 19" crt. What i dont get is all the diff cables people are going on about. What comes in the prem thing? (cable wise) what *** give me a better picture my monitor or the tv? What *** i need for it to run on the monitor?

Im completely lost tbh dont get cables are used for what :)

The premium pack includes Component cables which can provide an HD picture on a compatible TV (or monitor with component connections eg Dell 2405).

The component cable has a scart adaptor that you can use to display SD (standard definition) on a non-HD tv.

If you want to connect to your monitor, you'll need a VGA cable, sold seperately

Premium comes with Componenent cable which also doubles up as a Composite cable should you not have Component connectivity, Core version just comes with a Composite cable which requires any old Scart socket.

For use on a monitor you'll need a seperate VGA cable.

The vga cable through your monitor will give a superior picture too what u get on a normal tv, i was impressed with the difference when i got my vga cable.

Friend of mine has the new 50+" Samsung with all that DLP(?) whatyamacallit and he says the VGA is better than the HDTV quality. Not as 'sharp' but the colours are more defined.

brilliant cheers just looking at those links....

One question tho how am i gonna get sound :| the connections wont fit into soundcard surely?

**edit**

sorry my bad few bits down it shows ya *blushes*

Just as a warning though m8, you only get the female gender changer for the monitor and the sound adapter with the official microsoft vga cable, i have the madcatz one and had to buy the gender changer and audio one.

I got a 28" widescreen tv and i prefer the sharper visuals of the vga cable. I am used to sitting in front of the monitor when playing pc games so prefer it that way and as said it looks better too.

Yeah i was thinking of hooking my 360 up to my 17" TFT with the VGA cable, and one of those DVI dongles, as my TFT is DVI, but then i thought, nah id rather play it on my Tv as its a 28" Sony Trinitron Widescreen, and suprisingly even with just the component with the SCART that you get in the Premium pack its a cracking picture, and looks great on the big screen, im going to get the proper RGB SCART cable when i can get my hands on one, as the picture will be even better. :)

I heard that if your monitor or CRT is not a widescreen, then some games you may get the black borders, i know the picture would be a lot better on my TFT, but i much prefer it on my big widescreen, looks cracking.

Its about 1inch top and bottom but as i say its such a superior picture i can cope with that, i would be interested to know if u get borders on a tft as they not the same as a crt lines etc.

I got a decent 28" widescreen too but the quality of graphics isn't there, its really noticeable everything is so sharp on crt, but i would get a tft if it is deffo not got borders.
