Superooooo, I want a new MMO to lose my self in. I tried Vanilla WoW (private server, why Blizzard don't have these types of servers, I'll never know) and I liked it, but... I don't know, just wasn't the same.

I tried FF a while ago but performance issues on a 780 put me off.

I've no idea on how classes work, I like DPG and dagger type classes.

In short, I'm a little nub at this game and would like some input.

How big is the world? I LOVED exploring and running across all the landscapes in WoW which is one of the main killers for me in it's latest iteration (****** group finder ruined it). How is the end game?

FFXIV is full of great ideas which are well executed with a generous sprinkling of nostalgia and nods to previous games in the series. However, it has enough interesting content to stand on it's own as a great game. Can't say about the end game but have been casually playing this every evening for the past three months with my lady, reaching level 46 on a Black mage (her) and Paladin. We skipped the story scenes, choosing to make our own fun but I hear the story is excellent and some of the dialogue and side quests are funny.

We loved most the gold saucer, which was what kelt us logging in each day to gamble (mini cactpot) and race (chocobos). Even with just 30-60 mins a night of battling through the main story we found the combat engaging enough without getting bored. The learning curve is well paced and the people (strangers) who you party with are helpful and polite. We only had two instances of negative play with a bad seed making completing the quest stressful.

I only played WoW vanilla from beta through to the first few months of launch and didn't reach end game, so cannot compare the two, sorry. However, this game is a solid revival of the franchise and is about as legit as it gets when it comes to good game design.

There is a free 14 day trail capped at lvl20 which is enough time for you to decide if the subscription is wortb it. So, give it a go! :)

Note: we played on reduced settings on a 560ti with and a 5850 with phenom and westmere era CPU's. You can even crossplay with PC users on PS4, if you can find a (new) copy of the game that is!

I feel this is one of those games you have to play with friends. I played on my own for about two months on and off but just could not convince any of my gaming lot to play it too ( they were hooked on GW2 ) Was actually quite lonely playing with nobody :(

That is of course just my opinion though.

I've already trialed the 20 day, bought the game on steam.

I wonder if I can setup another account?

I'll ask my partner to play then. See if I can get her hooked.

I played a lot of ffxiv. Did majority of end game content in ARR and some of it in Heavensward. HW end game isn't as interesting to me at the minute but I'm sure they are gonna improve it eventually. FFXIV is the only MMO I've managed to get into seriously since WoW so it must do something right.
