FF and AdblockPlus

Driving me mad. Some of the forums (forii?) I use have tonnes of ads. I block them with adlock, but when I move pages, the ads come back - ie, they're not blocked.

FF version 2.0.0.4
AdblockPlus versrion 0.7.5.1

Any ideas? I've tried wiping off FF and all extensions and cleaning the folders out, and used jv16 to clean the reg too. After re-isntalling everything, it's still not working properly.

do you have spywareblaster? I have that and adblock and I never get popups

When you block an ad with AdBlock you need to press the Apply button in the AdBlock window otherwise AdBlock won't remember to block what you asked it to.

sillly question time.... have you actaully added any filters/subscriptions to adblock? i haven't had to block an ad manually since i started using it.

Have Adblocked Image and also Adblocked Link, and yes I have applied too.

There's a whole list of things I've blocked in the filter list, but the same ads keep coming up.

what do you mean, right click then 'adblock image' then 'ok'?

did you mean to quote me? i don't know what you mean?

when i install adblock plus, i use one of the subscriptions to add loads of filters. once you've done that, you shouldn't need to block ads manually as they should all be stopped automatically. admittedly i don't go on a wide variety of sites but i have yet to see an ad. actually, one exception is the banners on these forums....

I subscribe to the EasyElement +EasyList subscription on http://adblockplus.org/en/subscriptions.

Its 2nd row down, third column, first link. Get that and you should be rid of most of your ads. You can then add any other things you want to block.

Thats the one. Its the same as the EasyElement and EasyList on their own, but this is merged.

Is that just an add on to adblock plus? Which has a number off websites which are now blocked?

open the adblock window and look at all the filters it's added for you. that's all it is. just a list that someone has put together to save you the hassle of adding all those ads you find yourself.

Thanks, all they the most common ones ads that the average user will come across?

Yeah pretty much. Its just a list of the known online ad companies etc. I haven't had to block any ads, just pics etc that I don't want to see so you should be sorted now.

I do indeed. I used to use the filterset.G but some OcUKer whose name escapes me explained that filterset.G and something in Firefox clashed and it'd be better to use the EasyList/EasyElement combo lists instead. I switched over pretty soon after that and have had no problems.

Might as well go the full hogg and remove it. Then click on that link for the combo list. A window should pop up to confirm your subscription.
