FF downloads

dTa is very good, both for downloading and resuming files, and for getting better download speeds.

Thanks just got this running now, signs are good download speed is already about 100kbps :D Much better.

So when I want to turn off my pc tonight, what do I do if the download has not finished, and how do I restart it again?

Can you give me any more tips?

It has been a while since I used dTa but does it not have a Shutdown PC option? You could try that. When the download has finished it'll shut your PC down for you.

If that doesn't work, just load up dTa again and the download should still be there to resume. I'm not 100% sure that dTa will resume when you've turned PC off and back on again. Its been so long I can't remember if it does or not.

Just click Pause. Close dTa and Firefox, then it'll resume right from where you left off the next time you open dTa (from the Tools>downThemAll>dTa! Manager menu).

So just to verify, when I shutdown I will be able to restart the download from where I left off?

This is extremely potted because I don't want to take this thread any more off-topic than already. If you care, grab me on MSN or start a thread or something.

True. I was just wondering if MoFo had "announced" anything in FF3 that would beat Opera.

There isn't that much between them, bugs, JS speed and memory footprint aside. Places has potential, but it isn't anything like UI-complete yet.
There's a lot of emphasis in Fx3 on improving on Fx2 rather than on things other browsers have done. See here and here, for example.
Larry is definitely a winner though :D

Is Moz2 the future rendering engine for FF then?

Sort of. It's more than just a rendering engine, in the same as 1.9.n (Fx3.0.n) will be and 1.8.1.n (Fx2.0.0.n) are. See here and here, and here is an FAQ.
The important part with respect to making JavaScript faster is improving SpiderMonkey with Tamarin to form ActionMonkey (some more reading here and here if you care).

Just install DTA on vista, can't get it working correctly. Using FF, trying to download a mp3 file and keep getting this message.

'Check data correctness' after pressing start.

looks like you've got the referrer and the url the wrong way round. and you haven't selected anywhere to save it (destination path)?

The referrer is for the html, and not mp3 dunno why?! For some reason when I click the link to download the mp3, it doesnt open the mp3, but the html doc.

Yer sorted the destination path, missed that.

Have you tried downloading other files with dTa? Often websites use an HTML page pr PHP script for downloads, which dTa gets fooled into downloading, rather than the actual file you want.

Yeah just tried another mp3 from another sit eand it works.

Guess I will have to download some without using DTA then.

Yeah I've had that before, not just dTa though. Sometimes even Opera gets its knickers in a twist!
