Well i im currently attempting to complete my first final fantasy game prior to 13 and ive chose VII as ive always played bits n bats of it.

Ive just got up to the bit after sector 7 goes kaboom and wonderd if the game in general requires you to ever grind in one area for abit or not? as i lose paitence for this quickly but if i have to i will as i think FF is the best RPG series

P.S. ive played bits n bats of all of them just never compleated one yes im lazy i know.

To complete the storyline, nope, no grinding needed at all.

I'd say grinding is required to kill off many of the optional bosses though.

It's handy if you want easier battles and to do all the secret stuff, but certainly isn't necessary if you just want to do the storyline :)

I always put in about an hour in the very 1st reactor, and that really helps.

Only need to grind the KOTR/mime materia and chocobo raising for a gold one is some sort of grinding. Thats all optional though since none of that is needed for the normal game just the extra bosses.

Don't bother killing the fun of the game for the sake of trying to kill the mind numbing weapon bosses. Though that in itself is a hell of challenge of you fancy an extra challenge after completing the first time.

I'd advise just enjoy it and play through one of the best ever video games first time. Feel the need to come back? Then try the big fellas' ;)

No serious grinding is needed for any part of the storyline I felt about from maybe a dragon or that spidery thing that casts trine.

Finish the story then try the Extra bosses, materia.

Gaining AP can be a grind but it's really worth just getting the story out of the way, cry a little then enjoy some epic bosses.

No grinding required, however I find that it makes fighting most bosses a lot easier, so I tend to set myself a limit of which level I want to hit before fighting the next boss. I realised I overdid it once when I killed the first boss in one hit

there is only two points in the game where i had to grind, just before demon wall. and rapps

Ah yes, this ******* in the Ancients Temple. One of my first playthroughs on this game, I was way too low level and could not get past this boss, hence one of the few instances of being a game breaker. It forced me to start all over again as I did not have another save game file where I could resume from before this boss.

So another lesson there, make sure you have multiple save games just incase there will be times where you need to grind a bit just make sure you are powerful enough.

demon wall is really easy to kill, if you are struggling just kill a few dragons in the room with the black materia, they give insane EXP, there is an ancient outside the room who can restore HP/MP and save after every fight too

From what I remember and this was like a decade ago so please correct me if I am wrong, but as soon as you are set and ready to approach the Demon Wall boss, there was no longer anywhere else to grind, don't think that dial/clock room was adjustable anymore, so you was pretty much trapped with nothing else. Plus I was quite low level that even those dragons were pretty hard as well.

Never had to grind last time i played it on the psp , managed to go through most of the game without dying.
Allways got cloud set up on his limit break before boss fights and normally killed most bosses before my 3 chars had 1go each

I kinda rushed FF 7 no grinding at all
just went through to the last boss.
And I almost died however got lucky and managed to finish the game without dying.
FF8 and FF9 however played the game to death.
FF8 was bloody easy to reach lvl 100 on all of the main characters and get all the best weapon etc.
FF9 was a bit harder to reach lvl 99 so only got lvl 98 with zidane and 95 ish with the rest. Did all the chocobo quests though.

I actually enjoy grinding in RPG games, I'm never in any rush to complete the game and use the time to see how high a level I can reach :)

Or maybe I just suck at them and so have to grind or I'd die :p
