FFS. After service/ cam belt change

I can recommend a good garage that let me have my car back when I left it to the 'professionals' to fit my new brakes (I normally do brake stuff), to discover the brakes didn't actually work. You can imagine I was pretty amused when he quipped that I should be careful as the brakes are pretty sharp, just before I left with the car (and he was shutting up the garage).

Countless times I've had to fix botched jobs at garages.

We could probably spend all day comparing notes on who has had the worst botch up from a "professional" outfit! :p

Doesn't change the fact the basics are, well, basic. But the OP did take it to quickfit so it is kind of self inflicted really .... ;)

And I've duly beat myself up over it.

:p

I do now have another recommended garage from my boss to try next time though, so fingers crossed they turn out OK.

It is just a mistake!

Someone who can do a timing belt can easily bleed the system.

Clearly the timing is a factor here and it was just a mistake.

Cliosport forums? It's only a standard 1.4 petrol Dynamique S.

Who would you prefer do your laser eye surgery?

a. The laser eye surgery specialst
b. The school nurse

:p

Taking your car to a garage that mostly deals with your car = faster, better service.

Had my DC2 cambelt/tensioner/waterpump/thermostat done for ~£90 (+ I supply parts which were ~£115)

Other garages gave silly quotes in comparison.

Filled me with confidence dropping it off and seeing a ton of other Honda's there.

The nearest Clio specialist to you is probably Fred over at BTM in Birmingham.

Bit of a drive though...

Get it sorted in the end?

Sounds lucky you didn't blow your head gasket driving it back there.

Just spend some time squeezing the pipes (don't burn your hands!) to try and work the air bubbles out. Some car's actually have bleed valves on them to help with this process. Other car's coolant system's are so bad that they need a proper filling system to force the air out (or at least, suck it out).

What has a ClioSport forum got to do with specialists?

Am I grossly underestimating what that forum is? I assumed it was just a forum of owners.

Yes Scougar, got it sorted in the end. Was an air lock.

It's forum full of Clio owners.. so they'd know where specialists are.

I do think it's OTT to take a non RS to a 'specialist' though. Just don't take it to Kiwkfit tbh

The majority of cliosport specialists post on the forum regularly and have their own traders sections within.

Just helping in case you wanted to know a garage you can always trust...

Oh I appreciate the advice, I was just a bit taken a back by the comments to get myself on there when I don't have a performance Clio.

I'll certainly register to look for garages close that would come recommended.

Kwik Fit will see no further business from me.
