Same happened to me a few weeks back - I'd not played in months and wouldn't have even realised my account was compromised if I hadn't got an email from Blizz saying my account had been suspended. I contacted them though and got my account back, plus loads of items returned via in-game mail to multiple characters that the git must've sold or whatever.

Got hacked two days ago, sent driving licence and cd key in with the form they give you and next day (yesterday) account got restored, with all my original items and badges. And then some duplicate gems and badges, and an extra 5k gold to my main. But on of my alts they were going to use for a bot, changed spec etc, so when he was restored i got literraly a 10 thousand items restored to my character and got 5000g from vendoring it all.
