I'm 23 and currently doing driving lessons and almost at exam stage, have bought a cheap run around Fiat Seicento 899cc, Cheap to buy, Good MPG and cheap insurance.

I have been searching the internet for a few items that i can't find and just thought someone could help.... before i go scrapyard hunting

Wiper water tank cap
Pedal covers - metal or rubber

Any tips from previous owners on things that needed changing first or problems they had are more than welcome.

and i guess you can take the Micheal a little if you like hahah

Buy the washer lid from Fiat, or if you're really desperate i'm sure universal ones exist

why do you need pedal covers? Are the originals worn away? You can buy screw on covers if you're really desperate- agian they'll be universal so make sure you get some of roughly the right size.

also - I hope it's bright yellow

No Michael-taking here, mine was a great little car for the ~12 years that I had it :)

The washer bottle cap always breaks - the plastic goes brittle. You may find a half decent one at a scrappy, or try trawling eBay. Pedal covers - Shop4Parts has some.

Tips - watch out for the fuel tank rusting if it hasn't already been replaced, CV gaiters like to split (common FWD thing anyway, and particularly common in Fiats), and the handbrake linkage will seize up and destroy itself so you may want to crawl under the back and copper-grease the bits of it that you can get to. Otherwise, they're pretty much un-burstable.

The accelerator pedal is tiny without a cover and that is my reason for needing them or just one, i just thought because the metal piece is so small i couldn't use any random pedal covers.

I wish it was bright yellow :D it's blue ... will find a picture.

... will also take a picture of the pedal to show what i mean, that will have to wait till after work

Thanks

Thanks JRS, that is some handy information for me :p

Ah, I see. You'll do well to get a cover in there to make the accelerator pedal larger - the wheel well limits space to the right, the proximity with the brake pedal limits space to the left. I never really had much trouble with it in spite of my size 11s :)

is that the way it comes ... just a small metal pedal for the accelerator ?

Well, it did only have 39bhp.

Although it wasn't heavy since I think it was made of pasta or something, so... Yeah OK it was still pretty slow. I grounded it and got stuck on a speed bump in Waitrose' car park when I had 3 passengers, too.

:D

Will remember that as i have lots of speed bumps where i work,

Silly question,

whats the easiest way of finding the colour for my paint. (Log book not here yet)

Should be on a plate/sticker on one of your door sills AFAIK.

My mate had a little white one when he first passed when we were at school, we had many good times cruising in that little roller skate :D

Didn't know we had so many former seicento owners here... I learned to drive in a 1.1 Sporting. Took it to an ocuk meet long ago as well, we met at a place called Pant on the Welsh borders and drove the horseshoe triangle if I recall correctly :D
