fibre optic info

Ive just had 80/20 go live today with plusnet. 4 lads in the wearhouse have 80/20 all from word go, no 40/10. There already iplermenting fiber on the new builds and on the new house ive bought. Thats fiber all the way in and up

Clearly this situation isn't normal especially since every ISP's site right now, including Plusnet's own site, says 40Mbit. If you guys have been put on to 80/20 that's because they're trialling it and for whatever reason you're on the trial. It is not meant to be generally available yet.

Also the fact that the vast majority of people are still on 40/10 - including both of the VDSL lines I have access to - clearly proves that 80/20 isn't standard.

BT has to start to push for higher and better fibre now Sky is joining the fibre band wagon ! :) as Sky is updating its network ready to roll it out and i,m guessing will update to 100meg once they are ready :)

You do relise that Sky just lease BT's cables sometimes using there own kit and sell it to you just to hold market share against Virgin Media right?!

Cant wait to get FTTP just ordering my FTTC at the moment Exchange isn't due to be upgraded until the end of the month!

may i ask who your going with ?

Okay chatting to the Open Reach man today at the same site but next door to mine. The whole street is on 80/20 preupgrade/bump as tests already done.

Were all FTTP as it's a brand brand new build. We all have multi lines, he said he couldn't say how many exactly but said fiber offers lots. So a single fiber can off 48 channels!!! He nodded when i said this

80/20 is FTTC, not FTTP. Post proof or stop posting nonsense.

oh interesting ..so might get it this year then ??

On the last list I looked at, the original FTTP roll-out was much, much smaller than FTTC. The "fibre on demand" might well increase availability in 2013, though it will depend on price for take-up.

yeah i believe BT are aiming at more FTTC 80/20 service ,i know this is true as my brother works for BT OpenReach & they want to get everyone whos on Infinity 40/10 upgraded this year :) and 2013 will start on FTTP service :)
