fiesta st

OTT stripes look, well, OTT on the blue ST in my opinion. They suit the white and red ST's though for some strange reason.

nice deal there mate, cracking little cars too, handle really well!

Apparently for some reason they have really very restrictive exhausts, silly ammounts of power gain just for an exhaust, like 15 bhp!!
Dont know how true it is, so don't take it as gospel, I struggle to beleive it! But I have read it in a few places so must be coming from somewhere!

that is true.... 170bhp is within reach with a 4-2-1 manfold and sports cat.

thats what im planning on doing myself... I wana get a Mk6 ST (not Mk6.5) somewhere between sept 07 or april 08. Ill keep it standard untill i get "bored" of the power, then installing full exhaust system, air filter etc.

saying that, i might get a Mk6.5 but just change the head/tail lights back to the Mk6 ones from my current car... I just dont like those Mk6.5 lights at all...

... just a question, how does that shop get those cars SO cheap? (the Ashby shop)

Just looked at the spec of the Fiesta ST - they're only 140bhp as standard? No wonder the performance is so average. Shame really, as I do think they look pretty good, baring the ugly front lights of course.

Can't have been looking that hard as they're meant to be 150 standard :p , and have had mine RR'd at 164bhp avec a K&N...but I'm waiting til the RR meet at powerstation to confirm whether that figure is wildly high or reasonably accurate.

There is also a torque limiter on first and second gear which retards performance a fair bit, but can be removed with a dreamscience map.

150bhp? My bad. Still, it's quite a heavy car for it's size and I'd be immediately looking to gain more power to get the performance to a respectable level.

Yeah I agree the performance isn't good enough sometimes, but some people are now breaking into the next stage of modding where they're fitting the 2.3L block from the ranger/transit/american focus, coupled with lots of uprated stuff and are looking at 220+bhp, 200lb/ft+ N/A, but that does come at a price which sadly is way out of my range for now.

220bhp? Now that sounds like a lot more fun :D

Shame it'll be so expensive to liberate that much from the engine though.

I got mine price matched from Archers, don't forget you still have to pay for everything else on top, like met paint, and then all of the toys on top. You won't get a Mk6 on an 07, although I had the Mk6 and the Mk6.5 is much better. It feels better put together and the interior quality is much better :)

To be honest, 150bhp suits the car quite well. It keeps fuel costs down (even though it is oddly thirsty sometimes), and also tax and insurance are kept down. It's pretty easy to get it into Clio 172 territory, but the weight is the killer so the Clio will win. Something that is much better than the Clio is quality, it's much better put together imo, but maybe not as much fun which is the best selling point of the Clio.

Ford wanted it low insurance group, so didnt go nuts on engine tuning..... hence the exhaust mods do so much for it

Don't go for bluefin, generally considered not a good spend, some people have liked it, the majority didn't.

Better off saving a little more and getting dreamscience, as it is fully mappable and seems to give better gains, I'd say it's considered as the best thing to get ecu wise.

Do you have a linky for that matey?

After doing a grand total of 25 miles, the things i like and dont like, and one possibly worrying problem someone could maybe shed some light on.

I love the tech pack, the auto lights, windscreen wipers and power door mirrors. The stereo gives a fantastic sound, ive never had a multi cd changer either, so another bonus :)

I dont like the car key, i was amazed that ford still use the same kind of stubby keys they did on fiestas 10 years ago which had a habit of snapping off, it looks very cheap and tacky.

I pulled out of the gym last night and braked while turning, when i braked though the car didnt continued to turn to the left until i stopped braking, im not sure what this is but it scared the bejesus out of me, should i not be braking and turning? (i know you dont usually brake while turning, but it was still not a nice experience).

The seat is getting comfier now after another day in the saddle, my alfa GT had a supremely laid back and comfy driving position, i think its going to take a few weeks to adjust to the more upright position of the car.

I feel 19 again! I had a Nova GTE when i was 19, and always loved small cars, ive had the nova, corsa sri (sadly stolen and burnt out :( ) before going into company cars like mondeos and toyota avensis's and wanted something nippy and small again, my wife and kids love it, my daughters have labelled it the "loon machine" due to the racing stripes over the top :p
