I've recently bought this game as I can't stand this year's PES

I am not getting on with this game at all, for a so called new engine the same fifa flaw is there, it was present in Road to world cup and it's back again

You can always score from crosses

No-one online that I play can seem to score from normal open play, neither can I, I mean one on ones, 9 times out of 10 I never score. It's really annoying me, I am dominating the game, peppering the goal with shots, only to have the Uber goalie save everything, then suddenly I'n 5-0 down as once again, the opposition has scored.. from a header, or it's a boring 0-0 draw as no-one can score.

I know I sound bitter as I keep losing but it's really annoyed me

any tips on shooting?

Semi-automatic shooting. Build up your moves with passes and through balls.
Or, if you're feeling confident, Rivaldo turn or Flick-Flack the goalkeeper, which leaves you feeling smug for the rest of the day.

Well I just went home for lunch and beat some 3-0 and 2-1, no goals scored from crosses!

Scoring isn't the hard part, the build up is. It's all about patience, use New Analogue controlls and everytime you recieve the ball press LB for close control.

Oh and pass and move, think it's left Trigger once you've passed the ball, totally opens up a whole new style of play when players aren't stood still when you pass to them ;)

LT is it? I always wondered what it was. I am getting fed up of through balls and other passes being cut out because players are stuck on what seems like a set path or when they do that little backwards trot AWAY from the ball.

It does my head in.

I always assumed it was Left Bumper for triggering a run. That said, they never seem to make runs.

indeed, everytime I pass I use the one two command, and although they run the through balls are poor, I will try setting that to manual

I'd just like to say I'm having no problems with patient build up, like I said I'm creating boat loads of chances, just the shooting that seems to be the stumbling block for me

As for manual throughballs, are they difficult to get used to? So familiar with automatic it may take a bit to transition. As for crossing, I take it everyone keeps it set to automatic, easily find the head of your player that way it seems.

We should get some games in before the next cup starts, I definatley need the practice.

They're a little tricky to get used to, especially the whole having to hold it for power. The first couple of matches you'll be tapping Y and doing ridiculously short through balls. But the long term benefits are really worth it.

I don't have manual through balls on, I don't have a problem executing normal one's. I tend to mix it up with the lobbed through ball depending on the pace of the striker. I 99% of the time play with Liverpool so Torres has a real advantage due to his pace.

Also learn the LB and RB buttons for shooting, you score some real crackers with the help of these buttons. LT is great for free kicks too.

Corners wise, try balls along the floor (cross button three times quickly) often enough you'll have a player round that area and if you can get a shot in it will certainly test the keeper.

Try get the ball to wings, it gets quite cramp in the middle of the park so mix play up. Cross by pressing the cross button twice and a dangerous ball will be sent into the box. Like the corner I spoke about, try get to the byline and press cross button three times to send a cross in low, can cause havoc in the area.

Hand on. When people say left bumper, do they mean LB? Not LT?

I find LB awesome for free kicks, puts some great power on them.

As for a pass and move, I use LB for that as well, not LT.

It's LB for one-twos and such on default controls, I'd assume that'd be a different control scheme.

Whilst I'm on the subject of controls, how many of you use semi-automatic shooting?

I tried it but didn't really like it, went back to automatic. If i played online competitively then I'd probably use it until i got good at it.
