FIFA 14

so my 11 year old challenged me to a game of this. And proceeded to humiliate me. Even at one point scoring using his keeper who ran end to end unchallenged by me and then proceeded to score.

I've never played any football games before, always playing FPS games. I'm ok with the ball, I can pass shoot, score etc.. but really struggle to get the ball back.

It just seems that every time all my players are in the wrong position and I end up with players running behind the person with the ball, unable to tackle them.

Anybody got any good tips on how to play the defensive part of the game ?

Nasri has the best finesse in the game from everyone I have used it's ridiculously good. After I spoke about it on here everyone who tried it out agreed.

Take a look at Nasri first and take some long range finesse shots from the left side of the pitch from outside of the box using his right foot.

I have scored some from crazy angles basically if he gets 5 yards of space I take a finesse shot with him whenever he plays LCAM.

Sometimes from a throw in and he's hugging the line I pop a finesse shot off and it goes in.

Marchisio's is inferior but still good.

Have you tried Nasri? If not please do as his finesse shot is amazing from any angle, any distance (within reason), any time. Obviously though you have to be running towards goal when doing it (not facing away from goal or standing still).
 
if i had to hazard a guess it's got something to do with vision, curve, finishing and shot power as all those stats are similar on both

shot power IMO has to be weak when finessing as the ball is looping around/over the keeper it's not the pace which beats the keeper but the trajectory, the curve also has to be right as well as the finishing IMO.

need to be around 75-78 it seems but with high vision around 85+.

i could be completely wrong though.
 
You missed pro clubs last night chanjy :p.

We won about 12, drew 1 and lost 1. It was a massacre.

The one we lost I almost nicked a goal at the end as well! :(

We always can do with more pros. Poly is going pro with his dribbling then finesse shot combos.

Yeah I've gone off FUT completely at the mo. Will get back into it soon though.

I built a team for a laugh and it's surprisingly fun and causes a lot of rage quits (more on that in a second).

Now I know you're thinking "bet he crosses with that" and you're right but I only go full cross mode when somebody either:

- kick off glitches
- runs down the wing at all costs
- hits nothing other than L1 + X, L1 + triangle
- hits off balance over the top through balls

Then we start using the two wide lads to full effect. Cuadrado is ridiculous really. You can just run in a straight line to the wing and cross it in. I have Engine on his as well :o. Gaitan is really good too. Jackson I'm not used to yet. But Falcao has been absolutely murdering people.

Now back to the rage quitting point... nearly everyone loses their head when you just pelt it down the line with Cuadrado... I don't like doing it but if people insist on playing the game like a **** then so be it :D.

My cross to goal conversion rate is really high. I don't aimlessly whip it in.
 
TBH Andy it may just depend on how you use him. I find Nasri better in tight spaces while De Bruyne just gets mullered and loses the ball. I don't really do that much shooting on the weak foot with my CAMs.

better power shots, but nasri has the best finesse shot in the game (from everyone I have tried).

different people with different styles/skills like different players though so I can imagine for you De Bruyne is better.

I hate Bundesliga/La Liga for instance yet everyone loves their teams on here. La liga not so much I just feel their CDM's are all pretty much crap apart from Song and even he isn't that great tbh.

Brazil, Serie A and EPL for me or hybrids with Ramos, Miranda and Courtois.
 
Oh indeed, the game would be a bit silly if everyone liked the exact same player.

My hybrid was described as the 'stupidest team I've ever seen' by someone the other day, it still mullered him :)

It's disgusting but it's also very fun. In a kind of "I know that feeling" way. Falcao is seriously, seriously good for me so far in that team.

I suppose at least with TOTS Jackson and Falcao your team is set up to be dangerous in the air. Unlike people who play 433 with Willian Eto'o and Navas and cross spam.
 
Just shoot with Maicon from 40 yards out and it will go in. Seriously, that **** has scored two from exactly the same place in two games in a row, first was TOTS and the next the normal Maicon.

In other news I did just get my first hatemail :D.

I have found Falcao actually very good. Just need to buy Martinez and Cuadrado then I'll have a heading monster 442 Ligue 1/Serie A hybrid :p
