FIFA 18

Probably as soon as their stats get boosted on the 30th I think, even though it’s only for 2 days with the big increase to all stats people will want to try them out.

Just played a couple of online season games in Div 5, and it's a nightmare. I was using random loan players as I haven't bought a squad yet, so the chem was down, but defending is just awful.

The other teams players are consistently making excellent runs into space, which is near impossible to defend against, yet my players just stand still?! Why. And my players are all slower, Rojo for example caught Aubameyang with ease and threw him off the ball.

Obviously I'm missing something. FIFA has always been a pain but I could always defend pretty well, there are situations now where I have 3 defenders surrounding an average attacker and one skill move takes them all out of the game. They are literally falling over themselves to let the opponent score. Christ.

In WL it didn't seem this bad, I don't get it.
 
I can't work out the game, yet. My record is woeful. The defending is just pathetic, no intelligence there for players anymore, just so many runners, unmarked players. I don't see the point in stats for players if they all do the same thing.

I'm 30 mins into a game now and 4-3 down, when did the game turn into basketball?!
 
I’m going to buy him later, and the La Liga side. Going with Scream Benzema at CAM, not sure he’ll be great but I think he might do quite well.

Then I’ll practice defending :p
 
I have gone and made a terrible error.

I swapped to good old 3421, it is such a fun formation to use. I won 4 in a row and have qualified for the WL....just when I had got over it and my weekends were full of happy things.

Do you need the wingers to defend? Do you have enough cover at the back and attacking thrust with this?

I'm still not sure on what team to build, there's too much choice.

I'm leaning towards 88 Shevchenko with Overmars 88 on the left and IF Yarmolenko on the right. People say the 86 Shev is better but the 88 is cheaper by 100k, has better workrates and the Hunter card should close the rest of the speed gap (even though they never seem as effective as EA claim).
 
Pretty huge changes coming to OP passing:

Made the following changes in Gameplay:
  • Made ground passes and ground through passes less effective when blindly passing the ball between 90 and 270 degrees, where 0 degrees is the direction the player is facing.
    • The most significant impact will be seen when the pass angle is between 140 and 220 degrees.
    • The impact scales when the pass angle is between 90 (least impact) and 139 degrees and between 221 and 270 (least impact) degrees.
    • The passes impacted by this change will see:
      • Reduced ball speed.
      • Reduced accuracy.
