FIFA 18

There is no doubt the game is in a poor state. Pro players are still doing well because they are just so good (and play ideal hours to minimise lag) they can still win with ease. Most are struggling to get 40-0 though.

I don't mind getting thrashed by someone better than me, but almost all games are very close until some stupid mistake/rebound/bobble/deflection/AI foul decides the game towards the end. I'd rather be 4-0 down quickly and leave to save time.

Having to play 40 games means you end up playing too many in a row and start getting angry.

And I've barely ever got anything worthwhile in WL rewards and my red informs are always rubbish so it's ultimately not really worth it anyway on the whole. :(

Just play seasons, WL was never present before 17 and people still played. Ever since FUT has been out I just played gold tourneys, seasons and online single games. Unfortunately they took away the standard gold tournament where you could play it as many times you wanted but there are many alternative games to WL. You will enjoy the game more playing a minimal amount of WL games, most I have done is 14 but generally do between 5 - 10 games now. 3rd kid on the way so I am sure that will reduce further!

I like DKT the most, but you can only win it once every few days, it seems easier than Div 1 but not too easy. Div 1 is a mixed bag, there are some really amazing players who are a pain and some who seem like they should be in div 2/3.

Up to 3PM the DKT was fine, it's a complete mess now.

Speed up lag, normal lag, button lag and the animations are running at warp speed.

How can EA get the servers so wrong every year?

I only ever do the DKT on an evening and never have lag. Speed up lag occurs every now and then but thats it.

I have a Netduma router mind, maybe that does have some bearing.

Speed up lag is always on your end, it's mainly caused by using a wifi connection. I had a perfect wifi connection and it still happened occasionally - since plugging the PS4 in (just to test it), I've never had speed up lag.

Haven't experienced that bad lag this year but do find that button presses aren't registering occasionally in menus and in game.

I think the issue with this year's release is that it's stale and too similar to last years effort. There's been no major updates to the gameplay (aside from the defending at launch until patched) and they haven't changed much else. Squad battles is nice to have but weekend league is exactly the same, online leagues exactly the same, DKT, menus, FUT market, packs, chemistry styles have not changed.

A lot of the content is too similar to last year and people got bored very quickly. Usually I get hooked on the gameplay and learning all the mechanics but this year it's not there for me and I've spent more time trading than playing.

I've gone from 30+ WL games per weekend last year to occasionally playing a max of 5 WL games if I can be bothered.

Yeah that is my argument... and I said this Aug 17th:

I just don't see any major, exciting changes. Even FUT there isn't enough to changes despite all the money EA make. I think I've become too old to accept the same game and paying £50 for the privilege.

So yeah, I think people have got bored. Unfortunately sales will never drop for FIFA and therefore no need to change, like COD really. The titles sell themselves.

I thought it was going to be based on the nominees for the award, not the most popular players in Fifa :(

Modric, Kroos, Iniesta and Bonucci don't stand a chance. Pace will win yet again.

Seems like a mix of people will be voting, but EA have the final say to a degree:

Ballot Box

For the first time ever, the Team of The Year will be voted on by a carefully curated list of media, athletes and EA SPORTS FIFA community members. This collective of ballot recipients has been chosen to represent the millions of EA SPORTS FIFA players all over the world. Each team will be selected from a shortlist of 55 players, nominated by EA SPORTS for their real-world performance in 2017.

Custom-built ballot boxes will be delivered to each recipient on January 8, containing all 55 of the nominee player items. Each vote will consist of three attackers, three midfielders, four defenders, and one goalkeeper in a 4-3-3 formation. Each ballot recipient will cast their vote by posting a photo of their team on social media with #TOTYVote by January 12.

The ballots submitted by this group will account for 60% of the final vote. The remaining 40% of the votes will be cast by EA SPORTS.

The final Team of the Year will be announced starting on January 15, with special TOTY player items available in packs for a limited time in FIFA 18 Ultimate Team and FIFA Mobile.

Let’s hope we don’t get unusable cards like Kroos. Obviously I would love to pack an attacker but the only player I realistically want is Ramos.
