I thought he showed today just why he's not international quality. Playing as the pivot in a 4-4-2 diamond you need to get on the ball and dominate the game - he was non existent and how poor we've played has been a result of him not being able to dictate the play.

I didn't think he was that bad personally, not fantastic on the ball but covered defensively in midfield and in front of the back 4 when he had to. Felt a little bit like a token MOTM to me though.
Trouble is Hoddle will want to give it to an England player, no real stand outs.

**** sake. A debatable penalty and a blatant foul. What a gash way to lose.
Yea, I thought he done ok defensively and wouldn't say he played badly per se but playing that role in that formation, he needs to do so much more. It's so a pivotal to how the side plays as a whole and he showed he wasn't up to in imo.
Get it out of the way now, we don't want any Sol Campbell type decisions when it matters.
Plus, in fairness, they had a stonewaller turned down.

No doubt about it, it's a foul in any circumstance.
Agreed - absolute shocker from the ref there - annoyingly he put his whistle in his mouth when the foul happened, didn't go through with it though for whatever reason. He was right in front of the action too, no idea how it was a free kick...
