FIFA World Cup 2014 - GROUP B [Spain, Netherlands, Chile, Australia - 13/18/23 June] **spoilers**

No one really mentioning it but Bosque being a bit of a **** imho in that game.

Firstly still not giving Fabregas a start, starting Alonso/Torres again despite them being terrible. Villa gets a goal, looked lively and looked pretty hurt to be substituted in what is likely his final game. Torres is 30 and had appeared twice doing nothing already yet it was Villa, who scored on his first appearance at the cup, who got subbed for no reason. It was pretty disrespectful and Villa was visibly upset to be pulled off the pitch.

Fabregas comes on, makes loads of runs, looks instantly better and sets up a goal... the usual. Utter disgrace that he overlooked him for, well, not due to form or quality. Villa/Fabregas showed they are amongst the very best players in the team, and probably the two most in form going in to the tournament... maybe Koke up there with them in form, and yet barely got any time in the tournament in which Spain flopped very very badly.

I can't understand the snub for Villa though, he was massively, I mean massively better than Torres across the three tournament wins and again massively so in comparison to Torres for their clubs in the past 4 years.

Have to agree especially on the Fabregas point.

Never understood why Villa was overlooked to Torres in their games. Made no sense at all.

Really comes across like Bosque didn't like Fabregas or Villa, for whatever reason, despite them being excellent for Spain. Torres starts one and two fairly long sub appearances... Villa was brilliant in his last season at Barca and very good this year for Atletico and good for Spain, so gets 60 mins in a game once the tournament was over. Pathetic.

He's only 32, he's "retired" from internationals but he could potentially change that if a new manager showed him he was still wanted. Though he'll now have the getting older thing and the lot of travel thing for internationals as he's moving to the MLS. Not sure why he's not sticking around, MLS was probably the best offer money wise and america is a good place to live if you're rich. Still would have loved to see him at Arsenal or something for a year or two, he's brilliant.
