FIFA World Cup 2018 - GROUP D [Argentina, Iceland, Croatia, Nigeria - 16/21/22/26 June] **spoilers**

Nigeria created as many or more opportunities than Argentina but just lacked accurate finishing, would that be fair?

I dont know, I know this isnt a popular thing to say because there are some who would say that as an Englishman , I should hate Maradona, but I actually like seeing him do all this stuff, he's a character.

Pele was an awesome footballer, but by god was he boring after he retired, I prefer Maradona for his antics. Its a bit like Steve Davis (great but boring) and Ronnie O'Sullivan (great and a character) or Jimmy Connors (great but boring) and John Mcenroe (great and a character).
 
Masch should have been off the field for 2 - 3 minutes sorting that cut out, have no idea how the ref "missed it" for 20+ minutes

Nigeria shot themselves in the foot with wayward finishing, they had 2 or 3 decent chances to get a shot on goal and missed every one (couple of them badly)

They were also trying to hold too high a line for several minutes before the 2nd goal - it gave Argentina a bigger chance to get at the very least a shot on goal

Have Utd just found another striker lol

Quite funny how Nigeria where knocked out 4 years ago by a goal from Rojo (although Argentina were already through at that point)
 
Quite pleased Argies got through, even though I support Brazil I still have a soft spot for them due to watching Maradona win the ‘86 World Cup for them.
Should be a good game Saturday, I can’t see the Argies going past Saturdays game though. France are a much better disciplined side than Argies are.

Nah, it is different. Heading the ball against your own arm is different to someone else doing it point blank.

I think the ref let him off because the Nigerian got the ball and had a shot on goal but if that had resulted in the ball being taken away from him it could easily have been given.

Gutted for Nigeria but France should take care of this Argentina side in the last 16.

Will be nice to see less of Maradona, dude completely disgraced himself today with his antics as if it wasn't bad enough already.

Why? There's clearly no intent. He's not moved his arm to the ball nor has he put his arm in that position in order to gain an advantage. I personally think they should give handballs for everytime a player handles the ball regardless of intent but under the current rules that's not a penalty in a million years.

Yeah agreed. So gutted for Iceland - they put up a hell of a fight in the match vs Croatia. :(

I didn't watch the Nigeria game so can't comment on their efforts, but would have even preferred them to go through over Argentina.

At least one of the other of France or Argentina will be out next round, can't stand watching either team play. The France Denmark game today was a disgrace. Croatia should demolish Denmark though.
