FIFA World Cup 2018 - Quarter-finals [6/7 July] **spoilers**

Hey I'd love to be proved wrong, and hope I am, but really canmot see it.

Croatia, France, and Belgium are all better teams I believe.

I think our inexperience will show us up in the end
 
There was certainly considerable good fortune in the opponents faced. Tunisia, Panama, Belgium's reserves, Colombia, Sweden, then Croatia to reach a World Cup final? A few weeks back, that would have seemed unbelievable.

Croatia will be tough opponents. But nothing like as tough as France or Belgium will be in the final match. It's time for the team to stand up to the mark. If they're good enough to win the trophy, they're good enough to put Croatia down in 90 minutes.

Really? Why do people just spout rubbish out? I'd class that as a pretty good record in my book, we certainly don't struggle!

Really?? Are you really suggesting Belgium have been lucky?? Personally out of all the teams remaining they have impressed me the most.
Teams that have been lucky?? England and Russia as in how far they have got so far. Although Russia are out thankfully and England still to be tested by a proper team. Against Colombia without Rodriguez they found it easy enough. Same with Sweden earlier tonight.

At least against Croatia they will face a tougher test but I think England will pip them to the final. Croatia didn’t look all that impressive against Russia tonight.

If England do get past them and get to the final then of course I’ll be rooting for them. But having to face either France or Belgium?? I don’t think England will win in all honesty although I will wait to be proven wrong.

Either way England will be coming home either empty handed or with a lovely golden trophy.

But lucky?? Yes England have been extremely lucky to have gotten such an easy ride in their side of the draw without the like of Germany or Spain.
 
If there is logic and according to the quality of the remaining teams, the final will be:

Belgium - England with 70% for Belgium to lift the gold medals and 30% for England to do so.

The battle for the third place - France 80%, Croatia 20% (those must be exhausted after two matches with penalties - against Denmark and Russia).
 
Least there's a good chance of a proper Belgium v England instead of the silly one we had, be it the 3rd place match or the final.
 
Belgium got away with a clear penalty to get through the Brazil game without ET at the very least, and for that reason I think France will get through the Semi (although I don't think Brazil have been outstanding at all)

Im hoping the pace and power of France will get them past the Belgium team, although both gk are at the same level so it could be down to fine margins

I think England will really struggle against Croatia although they don't score too many usually , although Young and Stirling should still be dropped imo and the team would benefit as a whole.

Germany were not good enough to get out of a group with south korea and sweden. Spain were not good enough to beat russia or morrocco. There is a reason why these teams did not make it through England's side of the draw - they have declined significantly since the last tournament and are not as good as everyone expected.

At no moment, there was a penalty for Brasil. The contact between Kompany and Gabriel Jesus happened after Jesus sent the ball outside the pitch, so even without a contact, there wouldn't have been any chance for him whatsoever to play with the ball. Hence, the correct decision NOT to award a meaningless penalty.
 
The replay clearly showed the contact happened while the ball was on the pitch. Kompany, as good as he was, has the reaction times of a 90 year old these days. Injuries have caught up with him.
 
Really does make me laugh when people say we haven't been tested. They said it before Colombia, said it before Sweden, and now some people are saying it again.

The so called "better" teams were knocked out for a reason- they weren't good enough!

This is garbage.

Out of all of the so called 'top' teams that have been eliminated the only team I would have been nervous about would have been Brazil.

Croatia face a bigger threat to us than the likes of Germany and Spain or even Argentina.

I am not sure if you are watching the same World Cup as me but they all looked bang average or poor. This is why they were on a plane home early.

Back on topic....of course I would like England to win, but against Belgium or France in the final......I dont believe we can win it.

I think a lot of people go with history and brand names. If Croatia played better in this world cup over Germany, people would still fear Germany.

It's the same with the pundits banging on about Brazil when in reality they've been very average.
