FIFA World Cup 2022 Final + Play-off ** spoilers ** [17th - 18th December 2022]

They've pushed Griezeman on with Giroud going off. You'd have kept him deeper, and played Mbappe off Giroud

So take Griezmann off instead? He's their hardest worker. Argentina have been dominating them in workrate, they can't afford two passengers sitting up front. I don't think Deschamps has made the wrong decisions here, both subs have massively improved them. The players have just let him down hard from the first minute.

Huh? No, swap Dembele for Muani at that stage and otherwise leave it alone.

Edit: or move Mbappe wide, bring Dembele off, and bring on another central midfielder

Yes, I agree. But that's not on Mbappe - a forward can't do much if his midfield isn't performing, and this French midfield has been really poor. It's been the same problem that Messi has had in every world cup until now.

6 of one, half a dozen of the other. When he has got the ball he’s been underwhelming.

Argentina have just worked way harder today. Very much deserve the win.

So keep letting Molina dominate the right flank because Mbappe won't track back? Do you see why that is not ideal :p
Yes, but it's better than being dominated in midfield, and better than losing one of the biggest goal threats in your squad and the best player in the side at holding the ball up before half time.

But they were being dominated in midfield, more so because Molina is allowed to run forward uncontested and add another body. He had to make that change, just as he did against Morocco. Only difference is Morocco didn't have the quality to punish them for it. It's pointless having two strikers up front if you can't get the ball to them.

It's almost like it comes back to what I said at the start of the tournament, that the French won't win it as their midfield isn't good enough! Although in fairness I also said that about Argentina and theirs has been excellent

They're missing a lot of players, not sure too many teams would do well missing their two strongest midfielders and their first choice striker.

Ooo, might be some excitement if France score this penalty....

Game on???
