They're sim-lite so you don't really have to spend a great deal of time learning the radar and weapons systems, you can turn it down to arcade settings and you're good to go.
You really should give lockon a go though if modern air combat even remotely interests you. Its well worth the effort.
MS Combat Flight Sim II scales down to near-arcade level if you play with the difficulty settings, I'm sure you could arrive at a balance between realism and fun with it.
