Speaking to a mate of mine, he told me he had gotten in trouble a few days ago by running a redlight. He admits to it but also told me the circumstaces which seem a bit messed up to me. Basically its a pedestrian crossing somewhere in Camden according to him, one set on his right did not work and the other set on his left was covered by tree branches, so he did'nt even realise there was a light there as it was about 11pm and since the visible set did not work it was'nt really obvious. His only clue was the two bright flashes :(. My question is, if and when he gets the NIP, would it reflect his perspective of the lights? and if it does do you think he has a case, or is it cut and dry that he ran it and thus was guilty?

TIA!

Mention what you said above, and also say that when he went through them he sneezed as long as there's not picture of him :p

Not sure if the sneeze excuse would work :D
He would do well to go back, with a witness, take photos of the tree branches and watch the light sequence see if they are still bust. Ask local council if they have replaced a bulb if they are working etc

his NIP (if it turns up inthe post) will indicate just how far into the red he was when he ran it (and depending on the camera, it will also tell him how fast he was going when he did). as to whether he has a case or not depends on the scenario. I know people who have had NIP dropped when they've moved aside to let police cars/ambulances past with their lights and sirens going having crossed the line to make way for them
