Hi

Am having a few difficulties copying MKV files over my home network from my W7 computer to my WDTV Live Hub.

All starts ok and then fails after about 15 mins of it copying (is a 17.5GB file and stops with 10.1GB to go)

When I try to ping the WDTV (192.168.1.100) it comes back with reply from 192.168.1.103 Destination Host unreachable, yet it still appears in the DHCP table and i can log into the WDTV hub.

Is kind of driving me mad this.

I must admit, i dont know that much about networking, so there may be something that i am missing that is blindingly obvious here
 
Have Avast Internet Security and also the firewall that is built into the router.

I can copy small files over no problems as have copied lots of music files over, is only when trying to do the MKV files i have an issue
 
Does it always stop after copying the same amount of the file? I don't know what file system the live hub can format disks with - could this be limiting the maximum file size that can be copied (or you're simply out of disk space)?
 
Always gets to about 10.5GB to go. Is plenty of space on there as havent put anything on there apart form about 15GB of music and 1GB of pictures. Is a 1TB drive in there.

At the same time it stops copying, I get a windows pop-up saying that there is a problem accessing the network drive and wanting me diagnose the problem.

Seems very weird to me this one.

Would assigning static IP to the WDTV Hub solve this? If so, how on earth would i go about solving this.

Thew whole network path between my PC and the hub is as follows

PC>1GB ethernet link>Billion 7800N>powerline plug>powerline plug>100/10 switch>WDTV Live Hub
 
If there was a network problem then it would seem to be a bit odd that it stopped copying at about 10.5GB each time. It suggests to me that it's probably the live hub that's 'objecting' after receiving so much data and making the shared network drive unavailable (giving the error under windows).

A few other things you could try:
- Check the live hub firmware up to date
- To rule out your pc as a factor, have you triyed copying the file from a different PC to the live hub?
- Or tried copying from a local disk attached to the live hub via USB (assuming it has USB)?
- Connect the wdtv hub directly to your router to exclude the powerline plus and extra switch as possible factors.
- Have a look to see if the live hub settings will show what file system the internal disk is formatted with, and other settings relating to how it shares files over the network
