File recovery help

Long story short, I'm booting this using USB to get some files off a friends laptop.

Is there a tool like Recuva I can use on linux on an NTFS HDD partition?

And I'm a Linux noob, so also how do i run/install it?

Recuva works on windows too.

Update

I'm using PhotoRec which was included with Knoppix, I figure out how to use it in the end. Although it won't recover AVi's. Anyone know of something that will?
