After a hardrive failure with my Raptor74 I need to access the data.
My WinXp will recognise the drive but won't allow it to load ,reinstall or repair
for some reason. It won't however show up on my desktop so I can't drag files off.
I looked on the net for freeware data recovery aps & found quite a few but most won't find the drive. I did find a 'free' one which recognised the drive & scanned it & found all my lost files:D
However when I went to drag off the files it wouldn't let me & I discovered it wasn't freeware at all it was about £90:mad:
Anyone know a freeware tool that doesn't just scan the desktop for drives?
 
I use a program called "getdataback" by runtime software. Has worked wonders for me a couple of times - although I dont think its free.

tried File scavenger free addition & it worked o.k. moved 8gig in 5 minutes, the free version mars all your photo's tho. Bizarrely -after I finished I restarted my Pc later & it said one of my drives needs checking & scandisc started checking my borked drive !
It then appeared on my desktop so I could access the whole lot, still won't let me repair the drive to load windows on it tho so I can try a reformat now :D
 
I had a failed hard drive happen to me this morning.

I had a LOT of much needed data back, downloaded File Scavenger & it found everything I needed to get back.

Apart from 2 files, it recovered everything and I am talking nearly 300Gb of data also.
