Hello all,

What's the best way to get files from my laptop onto my pc? I currently am trying it over the home network. But time estimated to transfer 108GB was 12 hours so no thanks!!

Why is this taking so long? I've now tried to play some videos that are on my laptop via the PC, and they are buffering half of the time.

Any tips or ideas are appreciated,
Thanks

If it's a SATA hard disk you could just take it out and hook it up to your PC.

Alternatively a portable hard disk may be faster than your network.

Will check, but I think it is SATA in the laptop. Will have to find my spare cables now though!!

Is the laptop on wireless, if so plug it in instead.

It's already plugged into the router. Albeit a crappy BT Home Hub!!

Or buy a cheap Gigabit switch.

As long as both the laptop and PC are plugged into the switch you'll get the Gigabit speeds. You can still use the internet by connecting the switch to the router via ethernet.

Just keep the PC and laptop connected to the switch though to get the Gigabit speeds.
