I started downloading a game 'WiC_closedMPBeta.exe' yesterday and firefox crashed.

It now says its in use by another person or program. Ive tried ending tasks and closing them hijack this aswell and ive tried in safe mode to delete it.

Anyone know how to remove it, its like its stuck downloading in firefox but it cant be stopped on the download list because its not there

Only thing I can think of is reinstalling firefox and trying again.

Or just manually clearing your cache etc.

use a dos boot disc or a linux live disc to delete the offending file.

I'm assuming it's not letting you do it from the command prompt?

how do you use command prompt to delete it?

Ive tried clearing all cache, cookings n stuff in firefox

This reminds me of Windows Vista.

A mate phoned me up and said he couldn't delete a file on his new PC. After an hour on the internet it turns out Windows Vista has this ******* security feature that tries to anticipate hacker activity and thus doesn't let you delete files. How stupid!

thanks. ive tried the file unlocker and the process path is explorer.exe. I unlock all and it still wont delete. I take it thats because explorer is immediatley being restarted every time. I end the process and it restarted explorer and comes back on the process list when i try and delete the file

What can i do with this file now. Other than deleing explorer, which i woldnt be able to do anyway i dont think unless i booted from another drive, but then windows would be knackered

If you open up the command prompt and have the delete command all ready to go you might be able to ninja it before explorer restarts.

edit
start, run, cmd
Code:
del <insertfilepathhere>

As a last resort you could use the recovery console

Cheers mate. The ninja trick worked small window with del WiC_closedMPBeta.exe and kill process box above it. Kill then return quickly sorted it.

gone now
