Fileplanet membership

All the demos can be had at gamershell for free and full speed, and betas are free to enter everywhere. Even when you pay, a lot of times you wont get into a beta anyway. Id rather spend that £36 on something that I cant get for free.

personally I find Gamespot to be a bit better than file planet. As you get pretty much everything the Fileplanet, Gamespy, IGN network offers in one website and its cheaper

The only time I'd consider paying for one of these sites is if there was some genuinely exclusive beta that I *REALLY* wanted, which hasn't happened to date. I haven't got time to play all the full games I want (typically older ones which I know are great games based on reviews etc), never mind countless demos and betas on top.

As mentioned, within a day or two most demos will be on either bygames or the Zen gamershell mirror, both of which should easily max out any home internet connection. They are also both direct download links without any need for 'logging in', using proprietary download managers or any of that nonsense. Just your standard FTP client, HTTP download manager or even web browser will do.

In fact, thinking about it in the 8 years I've been online, I think the only internet-related thing I've ever subscribed to are ISPs.

In a few months im going over to freedom 2 surf on there 8mb so should i wait till then.

Don't do that they are having major issues with MAX adsl (well all isps are) and their service is the worst possible (new member of the pypex group). I had opened 12 tickets with them with no response and they are almost impossible to reach on the phone. Only managed to get the MAC code when they made a mistake and called me on some cold call to sell me telephone services. Stay away from f2s if you value your sanity.

I disagree, i pay the $6 a month, which really is peanuts, and to have a nice quick website where I can constantly download at 1100-1200 kb/s is a god send, definately worth a measly $6 a month

Nah. Fileplanet is one of the most pathetic services around. I can't stand the way they try to lure you in with all the exclusive betas etc.

I was a member for a period a few years ago but the content updating has decreased loads since then, gone downhill imho. I'd not waste my money on what they offer when I can usually get the content somewhere else.

Agree 100%. Very disgruntled ex-F2S customer.
