files now showing correctly in win8?

Hey guys, when i go into my downloads folder for example i get the below, after around 10 seconds the icons show the correct file type. happened since the latest windows 8.1 update

trying going to control panel & set defaults for all programs could be slight issue in default program assoication

you could try running disk cleanup to clear the thumbnail cache.

Something similar was happening to me after the 8.1 update 1.
I 'fixed' it somehow, but it still happens occasionally. I find also there are times when I simply can't select an item on the desktop for a short while, and other issues of Windows just 'stuttering'.

"cannot selecting icon on the desktop" we had this at work after research it was plugins in IE causing this after disabling plugins it never happened again

Make sure the folder type is General Items (right click > Properties > Customize > Optimize this folder for...)

This is worth checking

I'd rebuild the icon cache too (google it)

This 8.1 update has caused some issues for me. I might try a clean install if the above has not worked.

Make a new user account see if that has the issue.

reinstalled i had a brand new SSD sat in my draw for a few months that was better than what i wanted. all working now, tbh it was a due a reformat.
