Is the best way of transfering files from pc to pc using USB?? (a-a) i dont really fancy paying for an external hd yet and was wondering if this method would be fast and sufficient?
Reasonably. Control panel - set up a home or small office network. The wizard takes you though it...You will need to name your network (I choose my fav TV show) and then each computer (I choose characters in the show). You need to do it on each PC. You can then either copy files into shared files (got a little hand under the icon and you will have one in My Documents) or change files to shared in properties. In the next post I will discuss pitfalls....
Set a restore point. Doing this often shags my wireless connection with odd little changes here and there and sometimes the only answer is to restore
Sharing folders lowers security cos anyone who gets into your network can now look through (however unlikely) so read up on web security, especially wireless.
Connecting wireless will be slower that Ethernet because you are not using the interweb.
Once done it will be just the thing.....just take your time and read up here. There is a Networking thread...
I decided to buy a Western Digital Passport 160GB USB 2.0 Portable Drive - White from ocuk ......can also use it for my holidays thanks a lot for the input tho.
