Filling Loop Valve Leaking

I've a leaky filling loop valve on my CH system :( British Gas are on the way as part of a HomeCare plan. Sometime before six )

I've flicked the mains stopclock but can't seem to stem the flow. Any suggestions would be welcome.

Looks to be leaking, quite heavily, at the lower thread... so much for a 'quick' repressurise...

Edit: Seems to have slowed somewhat but as expected there's zero pressure in the system now. I've no idea if the boiler firing is a good idea, will still work or will actually manage to heat anything whilst drawing more water past it?

Derp, sounds obvious! :o Thanks will give it a go...

Probably hasn't been touched since it was replaced under warranty 2 years or so ago now. Bit bizzare or is this common?

Edit: both the nut & valve body spin together as if they're fused.

It's actually coming out of the turn lever so the valve itself is what needs changing. Is there an idiots guide to changing one of these?

The nut and the body of the valve shouldn't turn together, unless your using one spanner. You should be using two spanners, one for the nut and one for the body of the valve.

Take the handle off the stem, might be a threaded nut underneath, tighten up. This will tighten up the packing on the ball valve. Then put the handle back on.
See if that works for the time being.

Thanks, British Gas turned as I was spanners in hands. As you'd expect n00b single spanner.

Appreciate the advice though. Also repressuring one of the two chambers on the top with a foot pump as we speak. Shower Pressure was far from fantastic.
