I have just finished watching this French movie. At first, I imagined it to be quite cheap and stereotypical but it's really not.

The acting, cinematography and script are all absolutely amazing. It's funny, scary and extremely saddening.

Gives a real insight to the problems in romantique France and makes you aware that it's not just our British or American cities with problems regarding violence, chavs or anti-social behaviour.

Really opened my eyes to a lot of things and I highly recommend this movie. One of the best I've seen in a long time.

La Haine (The Hate) 5/5

Might have to pick this up in Fopp sometime soon. I've been very very close to on many occasions, it looks excellent.

No offence but I think it's a bit obvious that there is anti-social behaviour all around the world it just all depends on where you go in each country city.

P.S. - Good film :p

I've had it on DVD for a few years, I already knew there was social problems in other countries but I loved the soundtrack and acting and it was a very engrossing story.

My copy (released on Tartan DVD) has really crappy subtitles and it's quite often white on white, (unlike the movie, ZING!) so that spoils it a bit. I'll replace it if there's a better release.

I first saw it on Film Four and bought the Tartan DVD release with the poor subtitles. Bought the special edition when it came out with subtitles you can read.
I always thought it was Hate rather than The Hate.

I got it a month or two ago and your right, it's amazing. It's not just a deep-insight-into-society kind movie, it's also got a really good story which is told in a very engrossing way. Excellent film, very much worth watching.
