BTW, does anyone know that James Horner's score of "Aliens" (or rather one part of it) has been used dozens of times on other movies. I can spot it instantly.

Its the bits from the begining just after the opening credits as the Narcissus (sp) comes in to view, and the part that plays over the APC breaking out from the atmosphere processor that gets used.

Usually in trailers form crap films.

Hanz zimmer - The rock score

amazing

Hanz Zimmer is the man when it comes to movie scores. He also did the score to Broken Arrow which was awesome, and im a massive fan of the Band of Brothers score as well.

I know its not quite a score in as much as being produces solely for the movie, but i think that the music used in Garden State was brilliant, each song really enhanced the scene it was used in and whoever picked the music deserves a serious pat on the back.

Absolutely! Love all of his music especially The Thin Red Line.
Just had a quick look at his bio, and I didn't realise just how many films he has done - 127 according to IMDB  :).

It looks as though everyone agrees John Williams scores are the best. For those who are interested, look into picking up Time Warp. It contains a few of the best scores performed by the Cincinatti Pops Orchestra. It is also the one of the first all-digital (ADD) CDs and actually contains a warning that it can cause damage to speakers/sound systems because of the incredible dynamic reproduction.

2. Introduction To Also Sprach Zarathustra (From 2001 & 2010) - Altered Version

Definitely lots of the [gothic-style] work Danny Elman's done with Burton like Edward Scissorhands, Batman, Beetlejuice, The Corpse Bride and Sleepy Hollow. He always adds a really excellent 'twisted' atmosphere to a traditional score. Choirs and bells do it for me.

I also agree with Yann Tiersen's reworking of his earlier compositions for Amelie - I find myself listening to that a lot.

Oh yes, The Blue Danube works superbly in 2001 - that introduction is one of my favourite film sequences with music.
