After watching Wrath of the Titans, its become apparent to me that I love films to do with Greek Mythology (even if they are bad) - any recommendations on other films based on that or loosely associated with any mythology?

No doubt Ive seen most of them!

Really feel like playing God of War now :p

Sorry was meant to edit with the few I could think of:

300
Immortals

Harryhausen:
The 7th Voyage of Sinbad
Jason and the Argonauts
The Golden Voyage of Sinbad
Sinbad and the Eye of the Tiger
Clash of the Titans

Not Greek but the same sort of vein, Agora might be worth a look?
Never heard of it - will google it. Ta :)
Sinbad greek? i thought he was an arab.
Well I added any mythos in the OP, couldnt be arsed with explaining it in the title. It does borrow heavily from the Greeks though, but I guess its more mystic than mythos
Tory, 300 and clash of the titans come to mind.

Alexandria or whatever it was called with Jolie in it was pretty poor.

Yeah Ive seen Alexandria (Colin Farrell right?). As you said it was crap, and probably more historical than mythos...

Ta guys - keep them coming - really hope there are more, perhaps I need to read more...

Sinbad was originally Persian, modern western inclusion in the translations of 1001 Arabian Nights gives the impression that he was Arabian.......

He certainly wasn't Greek though.......although it can be argued that the genre within Film is the same.

It was Alexander......about Alexander the Great, and yeah it was rubbish.

You can try Immortals, although the mythology is ripped up by the screenwriter, most people wouldn't know or care.

There are various Jason and the Argonauts films and mini-series that are fair to good, as well as Helen of Troy and The Odyssey......

And lets not forget the Hercules and Xena TV series........

Recommend immortals as ps3ud0 said above its a cracking film with a different take on the Olympians and Titans

The problem with most movies based on Greek Mythology (or mythology of any kind for that matter) is they are usually done with rather a lot of artistic license and as such bare only a passing resemblance to the book/poem/saga they are based on.

If you really want to experience Greek mythology then you need to read it.

Immortals was an ok film but the only real link it had to Greek Mythology was the fact it had Olympians and Titans in it.

Looking at this, it does seem Ive seen most of them anyway, I perhaps wasnt looking for films that were particularly accurate, just had that tinge of mythos about them. I agree I really should look at the written texts, but where to begin...

And please lets forget Hercules and Xena ;)

In the recent spirit of OCUK.
"OMG you have to watch Xena as she has bewbs!!"

Im going to be crucified for this but Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief is probably about the closest to the original mythology as you are likely to get from a modern day movie. It has a remarkably accurate portrayal of the Olympian Gods and some of the cretures from the mythology but it is a kids film and probably not the sort of thing you are looking for, its also a bit pants.

Ive seen it, its not bad, dno why the next set havent been made. The whole training part is where it goes crap...

I watch a lot of films, so dont mind anything off-centre. Just seems Ive watched most of the ones on this topic :(. Guess I might have to rely on Homer...

How on earth can you have an accurate portrayal of mythical beings?
