There are some cracking movie scores out there, but not too sure about "moving" ones - "Gladiator" comes to mind immediately.

"Requiem for a Dream" wins for sheer effectiveness in conjunction with the story/visuals - not "moving" per se, but incredibly affecting.

I'd say most Morricone soundtracks are moving, my favourites being

Once Upon a Time in the West
The Good, the Bad and the Ugly
Once Upon a Time in America

Also the Sunshine one is brilliant.

Also a mention for True Romance, one of Hans Zimmer's coolest!

The Phantom Menace

Pah! Empire beats them both :)

I just don't like the Phantom soundtrack, it sounds too 'synthetic' especially comparing the opening titles to the one from Empire; the only good track on there is Duel of the Fates.

I think the whole Empire soundtrack is burnt into my brain, it's so awesome.

Particularly this scene.

That is one of my top 10 films, absolute must see!

also 28 Days later Climax scene near the ending escape, fantastic score and the film is probably also one of my faves.

cant link to the scene due to gore/swearies.
