I already have:

2gb Geil PC6400 DDR2
20" Samsung Syncmaster LCD (205BW)
Coolermaster Wave-something case
Creative Audigy 2 ZS
4 external maxtor and WD hard drives
Microsoft Wireless desktop
Logitech 2.1 speakers

I've just this second ordered:

Western Digital Caviar RE 250GB 2500YS SATA-II 16MB Cache - OEM 1 £46.99
Western Digital Caviar RE 160GB 1600YS SATA-II 16MB Cache - OEM 1 £35.99
Gigabyte GA_965P_DS4 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard 1 £94.99
Corsair HX 520W ATX2.2 Modular SLI Compliant PSU (CMPSU-520HXUK) 1 £59.99
BFG GeForce 7900 GS OC 256MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail

So ..... When I get paid in a week I'll be ordering:

Intel C2D E6600
Vista Ultimate 32-bit OEM

Does this sound ok?

Any likely compatability problems?

I'm not a gameplayer, but watch a lot of divx/listen to mp3's/browse the web .....

Thanks,

Chris

as long as it boots up fine it should be great! nice and smooth ideal for the activities you want. crank it up to 3Ghz+ and you'll be flyin.

That's what I wanted to hear :p

Trying to keep it as quiet as possible .... can i overclock with the stock intel cooler without it getting too hot?

1950PRO > 7900GS tbh. The CPU will overclock pretty well on stock cooling, though if you want silence you could go for the Scythe Ninja and run it fanless.

I've just emailed to see if I can change the 7900GS for this one:

Sapphire ATI Radeon X1950 Pro 256MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail

Would then change the cooler for an Artic Cooling Accelero X2 Cooler.

Sound ok?

Looks like they've accepted the change to the graphics card.

Just gotta wait til next week to order the C2D now!

If your getting C2D get the 64bit ver of Vista

I thought it was bad enough getting drivers for the 32-bit version at the moment, let alone the 64-bit???

I'm not sure I use any apps that would benefit from running on a 64-bit OS.
