Didn't expect them to reveal as much... But oh my days as a FF fan this looks amazing. Last few mins of those eikon battles was proper tingling sensations! Can't wait to get my hands on this.

I'm looking forward to seeing how it transitions to a full action game. It looks great from the trailers so far.

It looks like a really good, well-made game. I'm just not sold on the combat at all (not a fan of DMC), and the lack of party members and core group of characters doesn't bode well for me as a fan of the series since the 1990s.

Also I don't have a PS5, and this doesn't look like it's worth £480 +£70 just to play it.

Wish they'd just release it on PC :o

Agreed, I can see why DMC fans would love it and it does look like an amazing example of that type of game. However, I very much prefer what they did with the FF7 Remake (Rebirth is the one of the reasons I bought a PS5).

The good news is there's supposed to be a playable demo for FF16 so the sceptics (like me) can try it.

I also have my doubts about this one. Not liking the change in combat and, I dunno, it all seemed a bit off.

Great visuals etc but the actual gameplay seemed a bit limited.

Thought the combat in FF& remake was fantastic so disappointed they moved away from that.

The demo's framerate is all over the place in performance mode and it doesn't feel smooth in certain scenes. This is not what I expected given the lead developer's confidence in asserting they wouldn't require a day one patch.

The graphics do like nice though.

No motion blur disable
No Japanese toggle
Crappy framerate
Bland generic tutorial
Slightly disappointed so far will have to play more to see if it gets better

Yay story mode, that's me sorted for playing and not being total carp at fighting. I miss the old turn based days, plenty of time to figure out what to do next haha. Now just need a PS5

Only a half an hour or so in but I will say it’s not grabbing me right now and some of the music choices at certain times feels a bit odd, it does look to have some interesting characters in it. And it looks great.

Played for about 45mins last night. Enjoying it so far, didnt see an problem with frame rate while playing on Graphic Mode. Only problem I have is the weird blur when moving the camera around the environment.

Is that not the side-effect of running at 30? I played on performance and the FPS was all over the place, especially around the opening castle / garden bit, but stable in enclosed environments.

Played a bit through the demo earlier. I'm enjoying it. I'm loving how they're using the Eikons for set pieces and such, I think they've definitely taken some good stuff from the action genre there. The combat is a bit hack and slash but it's decent - I'm sure they'll have figured out a way to make some boss fights convoluted nevertheless.

I did notice a framerate drop during a cutscene but otherwise nothing so bad that it took me out of it or anything. Visually it's pretty nice but I feel like it's not getting as much out of the PS5 as some other games (e.g. GOWR).

In general I think it's a big improvement over FFXV but maybe doesn't quite live up to the bar set by FFVII remake.

I did not really understand the set pieces if I'm honest, just seemed like holding down the triangle button and occasionally pressing the R1; I was playing on the story-mode. Looked very pretty with a lot of colour on the screen though.

Make sure you don't use the accessibility rings/necklaces (the game is not clear that they are optional aids). They remove all the challenge by automatically doing perfect dodges and other things for you and they are for people who just want to enjoy the story and don't care about combat.

The game has improved a lot after the introduction and I can already tell it's much better than XV which I didn't like. VII Remake is perhaps more my cup of tea, but I have nostalgia for VII and I prefer the more tactical combat.

I'm struggling through at 30 FPS, but at least this mode is smooth. The motion blur is very excessive though, I am not used to this coming from PC and I hope they will allow us to reduce its strength or turn it off completely. However, the performance mode is far too inconsistent and stuttery to be worthy of the name.

Controversial opinion; FF VIII is the best.

Oh that is controversial but it's definitely up there for me as well. I think it would translate to a remake better than FFVII in some respects. There's a lot of atmosphere there that modern tech could really bring to life.
