Final Fantasy 7

When I start again, I'm tempted to just use a psx emulator instead of using the pc version so that I'm sure there aren't any problems... There aren't any known problems/bugs when using the emu? Which do you think would be better?

Personally I found the emu version much better - though I ended up ripping the CDs as trying to use the CD drive plugin was a nightmare and lead to all sorts of awkwardness.

Just installed and it's working great. Must.. not.. play.. anymore.. I have exams to revise for :(

Misleading screenshot up there, PSX version looks like this on an emu:

Mine definitely doesn't look that good :( Are you playing full screen?

Edit: Oh and it was a bit slow occasionally (could tell because the music slowed down). Is this because of the emu or game files? Atm both are on a 5400rpm drive. Which of the emu or game files would speed things up if it was on a 7200rpm drive? Or both?

Well the first attempt went well :D

Cat 1 = Aerith ff7
Cat 2 = Tifa ff7
Cat 3 = Red ff7

Son middle name = cloud ff7
Daughter 1 middle name vivian ff9
Daughter 2 middle name Elena ff7

used to have a cat named cloud and one named boko but sadly they have passed earlier this year so we got Aerith and Boko. Legaly daughter 1 is named elsie but I always call her Aerith reminds me so much of the char lol wife named one of the cats Aerith in hope that i would stop calling daughter it no chance :)

That is great, i was always going to do this when i have kids one day :)

What emu are you using mate? There is a great GFX plugin you can get for ePSXE to tweak the GFX etc.

I miss playing FF7, put so so many hours in back in the day. Happy memories. The storyline in the game changed the way RPGs have been thought about ever since.

Always has a place in my heart.

Yeah I'm using epsxe. Which plugin are you using? I installed the first one I came across. "gpuPeteOpenGL2.dll"

Pete's OGL2 plugin is great - try selecting the enhanced texture resolution options. If you've got 512MB+ of vram (most people do these days I guess) then it'll be fine and your games will look so much nicer. There are various filters you should enable too. From memory I enable nearly everything but turn the framebuffer emulation down.

I've been looking at various forums and playing around with the plugin, I think I have near optimum settings. It looks really good both in world, in battles and the FMVs look good.

I don't read books anymore because I need everything rendered in high rez 3D.

Everything that isn't built on Unreal 10, CryEngine 3, or id Tech 2050 just isn't a worth my time.

For that reason, FF7 sucks. The story is rubbish because it doesn't wow me visually. The music is **** because I can see pixels. The gameplay is boring and so last year because there are no real time shadows and DX11 support.

Wouldn't touch it with a barge pole.

Haha! :D

Here is mine running on Windows 7 with Aali's custom graphics driver, Ficedula FF7music (using OST music files) and Gjoerulv's hardcore difficulty mod.
