Final Fantasy 7

So one day I bought the P.C version. It was going very well, I got further than I ever had before, hell even close to the end of the game. I got up to the cut scene where the weapons escape, and BOOM, some kind of video error and it wouldn't go past that cut scene.

Sorry to tell you mate, but that isnt anywhere near the end!

Better get it installed and play it again.

I still have my original PS1 disks for all the games and always will. I have been using ePSXE emulator and they all look awesome on a modern machine @1080p on my 50" plasma.

Better than playing the downloaded version through my PS3 or with the disks on my PS2 both of which dont fit on the screen and i have to stretch it.

They know that people want a remake, they've known it for years, and they know it'll be hugely profitable, but they aren't providing one. Why?

The best reason I can think of is that they simply don't want to make a new one. FFVII was an excellent game, why risk ruining it? Where's the fun for the developers in simply taking an old game and updating it? Perhaps the only time they'll do a remake is if they find themselves in financial trouble, and need the kind of income a remake would generate.

Really? What names?!

Cat 1 = Aerith ff7
Cat 2 = Tifa ff7
Cat 3 = Red ff7

Son middle name = cloud ff7
Daughter 1 middle name vivian ff9
Daughter 2 middle name Elena ff7

used to have a cat named cloud and one named boko but sadly they have passed earlier this year so we got Aerith and Boko. Legaly daughter 1 is named elsie but I always call her Aerith reminds me so much of the char lol wife named one of the cats Aerith in hope that i would stop calling daughter it no chance :)

That is the best reason, and why I'd probably never buy a remake even if it were produced - Final Fantasy VII is perfect as it is. I don't want young generations getting in on the act anyway. It's ours.

On the other hand, I think a live action film of the story in the game itself (and not that useless Advent Children rubbish they've tainted the FF7 universe with) could be really good. As long as they hired me to make it.

I don't read books anymore because I need everything rendered in high rez 3D.

Everything that isn't built on Unreal 10, CryEngine 3, or id Tech 2050 just isn't a worth my time.

For that reason, FF7 sucks. The story is rubbish because it doesn't wow me visually. The music is **** because I can see pixels. The gameplay is boring and so last year because there are no real time shadows and DX11 support.

Wouldn't touch it with a barge pole.

Hats off to you, that's pretty awesome :D

I'm just glad you don't think of the pokémon franchise in the same way lol :p

Final Fantasy 8 on the PC ran decently though if I recall.

(It's also a better game.) :p

/flamesuit on

Yeah it definitely ran a lot better compared to FFVII.

Other than the use of crappy MIDI for the music again (Though with some mods, surprisingly it can sound close to the PS1 version), graphically and performance wise, it ran pretty well.

As for it being a better game, I personally would say mechanically it is. I actually like the Junction system, though Drawing spells is a chore.

No thanks!

That's even worse and will look cheesy as hell especially considering the type of characters and world this game has. If many previous examples of live-action adaptations of videogames are an indication, they are just so bad.

And I actually liked Advent Children. Least it is consistent with the game's universe and CGI is the way to go for it.

I saw people talking about modding improved textures for the psx version (on the forum linked above)...but it just seemed to be speculation. Has anyone heard of someone doing this?

I know you can do texture injection stuff with one of the graphics plugins for epsxe and the other emuilators so I guess someone might have gone down that route...

When I start again, I'm tempted to just use a psx emulator instead of using the pc version so that I'm sure there aren't any problems... There aren't any known problems/bugs when using the emu? Which do you think would be better?
