As title, I've finally managed to appreciate the wonder that is FF8. I was 9 when it originally came out but still played it, noobishly albeit. FF7 has been my favourite for years but perhaps this may be knocking it off the top stop.
GFs & Junction System - Some are bad ass, some are weird. But overall it has fantasy and something no one had done (other than themselves) the junction system at the time I thought was very ingenius. Not a lot of people understand, but those who do, find the game great. Especially since nobody I know realises that getting 100 of the one spell to maximise it's stat increase is there.
The characters, timid-powerful Squall (perhaps depressed?), Ballsy/under-estimated Zell, Cool/clumsy Irvine, intelligent Quistis, loveable selphie, cute/sexy rinoa. All of them I can connect to and understand and appreciate. Granted some have a stronger story than others.
Card system, adds a splash of fun/frustration fun for collectoids like myself, frustration since I'm crap at it!
I felt the story was short but that wassn't it, I've gotten 50 hours racked up and only just got the ragnarok (airship). It's because it flows so seamlessly imo that it feels short and I want more!
Kind of a short appreciation, I would to hear other plus points from people.
I know I'm 10 years too late but like I said was 9 when it came out.
Hope people can appreciate my thread. Thanks for reading.
