Final Fantasy VII available on PlayStation Store...Now!!

This game is still immense all these years on. I decided to work through FF7 again due to a lack of interest in recent games.

Everything about it is amazing, the music gives me shivers and the story/characters are still as enjoyable as my first play through years ago.

Certain bits of dialogue make more sense now as well, having played through crisis core on the psp.

I must have played through 7 over 10 times now, and I still get moved by some of the backdrops / music. Especially in and around midgar (the best parts of the game IMO). Reactor music is immense, and the detail to backdrops such as wall market are just incredible still.

Play it on my psp these days to conserve sharp graphics ;)

I was shocked by how good it looks on my 37" 1080p Panasonic LCD. I think the quality you get for older games on new tv's varies from one tv to the next.

I originally bought FF7 and FF8 on disc two years ago when I had my PS3 and a Sony 20" 720p tv. The visuals were awful, no amount of changing sharpness or other tv settings made any improvement. I had to think to myself "were they really this bad on the PS1?"

I sold the games as they were pretty much unplayable, I was using the smoothing feature on the ps3 but it was so blocky with jaggies everywhere that you could hardly make out the characters.

For £7.99 on PSN I thought I would try it with my new TV and the visuals are 1000% times better. Looks how I remember it from all those years ago.

I have only ever got 30 minutes into FF8 so that is next on my list when FF7 is complete. :D

I'd be jamming my wallet into my PSP's UMD tray if they ever released FFVIII on PSP. Still, I've always preferred VII - I was playing on a bus when I got to the end of the Cave of Gi, and got a few strange looks for my snuffles. I'm now on my way to the crater, having just passsed Gaia's cliff. Since I can now carry it everywhere I go, I see no reason why I shouldn't put all the effort in to breeding a gold chocobo, mastering all the materia and beating the weapons into little puddles, which I rarely do on a playthrough for the time it takes.
