Final Fantasy VIII

Very tempting, I preferred the story of VII over VIII but think the actual gameplay mechanics in VIII are better. Shame that "completing" the card game requires a guide as there is no way you could get all of the trades without a walkthrough to tell you who to beat/lose to at what point.

This 100% VII had a more involving story line like you said, where VIII revamped the summon/magic system for the better. I found VIII to be easier though, because chocobos were such a small part of the game and weren't required to get the top summons/items.

VIII was frustrating in the fact that using your magic in combat made you weaker :\

So once you got 100 of a type of magic, you never ever used it.

The idea was great, but the execution was poor. Drawing 100 of every decent spell for at least three characters was mind numbingly boring, and while I find the card game fun it takes a silly amount of time to grind enough cards for decent magic for everyone. Not to mention actually using any combat magic was pretty much non-existent, as stated above, will likely weaken you as you'll more often than not have it junctioned.

I'm going to wait for Squeenix to patch it with the proper music like they did with VII recently. Come to think of it, I still need to complete that, never played it before.

Before reading this I thought I was the only one that preferred VIII. Not sure I'll get these on steam though since I have enough games to play. :p

Did like ff8 but i hated the way they made the monster levels work. If you had like a lvl30 and a level1 in your party if made battles just to easy and some times there was no way to close that gap making 90% of the game to easy to complete which was the only let down for me

The chocobo mini-game also makes it quite easy as it collects lots of the rare items you need to make the ultimate weapons.

I had Squall's Lionheart pretty much as soon as you get hold of the weapon magazine it's in as my chocobo tamagotchi had collected everything already!

You don't need the magazines to make the weapons.

Uh I'm gonna wait till they patch those horrible midi files or wait for a sale.

Mod already for it mate :)
Roses and Wine - Steam Version
READ THE DIRECTIONS BEFORE INSTALLING

1. Make sure to back up your DATA folder and FF8_Launcher.exe before installing this. Nothing should go wrong, but it's best to be safe.

2. Run the installer AS ADMIN.

3. It should autodetect where ff8 is installed, but double check it's correct.

4. Make sure that "2013 Steam" is selected instead of "2000" when it comes up, and MAKE SURE ORIGINAL SOUNDTRACK is checked.

Note: Due to the way the injection is done, some antivirus software's heuristic features may flag this (usually as something with "gen" or "generic" in the name. I can assure you, there is no virus here.

Download (torrent)

Last but not least, if you want to make small a donation to DLPB, you can do so here. He'd be grateful :)
