*** Final Fantasy XIII ***

How on earth do I earn GIL? I'm happily farming away the CP, but getting enough GIL to buy components for weapon upgrades is hard :/ (I wasted all my bits early on :( I don't want to start again!)

Ohh, I'm past chapter 7, so no farming chips :(

Currently farming CP in that "Maw" place, very good, especialy seeing as there are loads of bombs so you get plenty of Bomb Ashed and Bomb Cores which are amazing for weapon upgrading, with a 3x multiplier 10 Bomb Cores give nearly 23K experience.

I'm really struggling with Odin on chapter 4...

I'm healing hope who is a ravenger, then switching two RAV/RAV and attacking, then going back to med/RAV again and healing hope.

It's getting right up to the GESTALT part of the bar, and seemingly not going any further. Then the time is running out and i'm dieing :\

Once the Gestalt bar fills up, you have to hit square to win the battle :p

I just kept switching between RAV/RAV and RAV/MED after every action I performed. It took a few minutes but he didn't come close to killing anyone in my party.

spoiler for Wardie taken from the strat guide;

You can change your battle speed to slow to give you a bit more time;
make a medic+syn paradigm (symbiosis) healing bring up odins chain gauge
have hope cast protect+shell first of all
switch to war+peace once buffed, lightning will attack while hope heals
When Odin performs Ullr's Shielf switch to dualcasting and build his chain gauge
when he resumed switch back to war+peace

this should take care of him :)

You numpty. :p

Press Square. :D

Well I've leveled the Helter Skelter up to it's star rank (level 61). Leveling weapons certainly gets much easier after you unlock Particle Accelerators and Ultracompact Reactors. I just need a Trapezohedron to upgrade it again (2,000,000 gil).

I could be farming for a while.

Just buy one!! then upgrade Kaines Lance or Nirvana to level 61 and dismantle it to get 3 Trapezohedron... Getting either to 61 would cost 1.5mil, but it's cheaper than the 6mil you would've spent buying outright. Plus you can sell the Montblossoms for 216k gil.

I kept Lightning in Med mode for the whole battle and used Hope as a Ravager. Just let Hope attack until the gauge fills up and use Lightning for healing. Don't forget to libra at the start.

im hoping to get another few hours on this tonight, ive been working away for the weekend and didnt get back till 3 this morning, then back in the office at 9 so im hoping when i get home around 8 i can have a good few hours of play.

not really sure what chapter im on but i know ive just done the bit with the orbs you can touch to change the weather.

im thinking of starting to upgrade my weapons but i keep getting hints its better to wait till later in the game.

also (without any major spoilers please) what chapter will i finally get to pick a 3 person team as so far a team of 3 has been very rare but when i have had a trio battles always seemed that little bit more fun and with 2 they seem to be a bit drawn out.

Final Fantasy XIII has shocked absolutely nobody by claiming the top spot in the ELSPA GfK Chart-Track All Formats Top 40 this week.

However, many more people may be quite surprised to learn that the PS3 has claimed most of the sales for the game, triumphing over the Xbox 360 after notching 54 per cent of purchases.

Such is the revelation published by MCV, noting that in the UK, it was a "very close battle", making its claim despite the inability to publish specific details of the issue.

Of course, there may also be little shock in the revelation that the game has also become the fastest-selling offering of 2010.

MCV added that given the series' traditional ties to the console, it may be less of a surprise to the gaming community, though it is believed by many analysts that the 360 will catch up on its opposition and outsell copies of FFXIII by as many as two-to-one.

Chapter 11. You can change and adapt your team then.

Can you reset the Crystarium?

Also - are any of the characters best suited to certain roles./combinations?

No, afaik you can't reset it, but if need be you can always farm some more CP and end up stronger overall. You're going to have to buy every upgrade eventually anyway. The only ones that might not be worth it are the "techniques", as they can only be used by the party leader, so there's no point unlocking them if you never use that character as the leader. Also, later on, try to prioritize certain upgrades over others. Abilities should come before stats, and take note of CP cost. A +20 strength upgrade costing 8000 is better than a +16 strength upgrade costing 10000.

For the stage 8 crystarium, it is best to only go round the middle circle (and any abilities that branch off) first. This is because the stat bonuses that branch off the circle are more expensive, often for lesser stat boosts.

As for specific roles, not really. Most of the characters can do Ravager roles, with the exception of Fang (ravagers aren't really for the main damage anyway, I find). The roles I typically use characters for are:

Lightning - Commando (high strength = high damage)
Sazh - Synergist (he has haste, very important later on)
Hope - Medic (high magic)
Vanille - Medic (not as high magic as Hope, but more medic abilities - also gets a weapon with boosted cure ability)
Fang - Saboteur (slow is useful)
Snow - Sentinel (high HP)

I'm actually training Fang's ravager role up at the moment, as that is the only reason I don't use her. Her sentinel and saboteur roles are excellent (as well as commando for when the chain gauge is high), but I like my Tri-disaster/Relentless Assault paradigm. Also, when I level Lightning's Synergist role up to use haste, I can swap Sazh out, and use my ideal team of Lightning, Fang and Vanille.

I guess you typically have a secondary class for all of them though?

Just not sure if i've done the right thign with the abilities really.

Light - All commando
Sazh - Ravenger/Syn
Hope - Syn/Medic
Vanille - Sabateur/Ravenger

Right well after...many hours of CP farming I have the following:

- All members have their 3 main specs maxed at tier 8 (i.e lv4).
- Light has a lv26 Durandal (tier 2 Hautclaire).
- Fang and Hope have Maxed Tier 1 weapons (Fangs starting spear and Hawkeye for Hope), simply because I can't afford the catalysts to take them both to tier 2.

Also everyone has about 70K CP stocked up.

Hope is currently on ~1100 magic, Light is on ~850 Strength and Magic, Fang has ~1000 Strength.

When do you get the weapons above Level 25? I have got 3 of mine to level 25 but the Catalysts are greyed out on my upgrade screen. I have saved a fair few components up as well, I assume they are still needed to upgrade weapons once they become Tier 2?

4 hours of grinding on Chapter 11 has yielded:

Only upgraded Weapons for the 1st 3 chars and not done accessories yet.
