*** Final Fantasy XIII ***

completed the main story the other night and been doing a lot of side stuff now :)

the game doesnt half open up its freaking massive :)

Out of curiosity, for what reason do you not want to continue into chapter 12 RP? Does the game close up again or do you not want to continue the story yet? I'm well into chapter 11 now and want to continue with the story, but also want to go back to the plains to do some stuff.

just plodding through chapter 9 now, the temptation of farming is there as there are so many chips around but i just want to continue the story.

starting to get slightly more difficult with the battles also, i like the fact im now having to make full use of sentinals, synergists and sabatours which until recently ive only used a couple of times to get past the tougher of the enemies.

my only gripe at the min is im play with light/hope/fang and if i have both light and fang as com they attack different enemies so i have to play as my main attack as rav/rav/com but it does stagger them quickly that way.

so far loving it but not too sure on replay value as its said to open up at ch11 so far ive played for 22h and it seems to be a long time to replay through before having a free role... i think ill just make sure i complete what missions there is to do this run through.

oh and 1 more issue, im getting really behind on my tv shows and uncharted 2 is collecting dust :(

Finished Chapter 4 last night, god how annoying was it to play with Sazh and Vanile

Sazh is crap as a Commando and Vanile is an annoying *female reproductive organ*
It took ages to kill the robots and bombs.

What I would do in older games was level a bit but with this game it's hardly worth it as battles take a long time and CP is very low.

What is the first place that is worth it to do a bit of farming to complete the Crystariums?
Is there a spot in Chapter 5 that is worth it?

It's not really worth it that early on, I was pretty much maxing out the crystarium through normal game play though the story, I am now in chapter 9 and have done my first bit of farming.

Okay, I will just continue on and hoping that I do not have to play with Sazh + Vanile any more :(

I did upgrade Light's Gladius to level 7, was this a good choice or did I waste a lot of stuff doing that?

Jonny is right, there should be no need to farm unless you want to get stuff like bolts to upgrade your weapon (which will be very slow and not worth while)

Save your farming hours for chapter 11 :)

as for upgrading the weapon, there is a bit of a debate going on whether or not its worth it to upgrade early or save your stuff till you get the better weapons... it's really entirely up to you, for me though I upgraded a few chars weapons to level 4 and saved the rest of my stuff for later.

At first I thought I would wait with upgrading but then I thought that when I go farming later on I would get a lot more items anyway so why not use some crappy items now and upgrade a little.

I used up all my Crystarium on every character so they are all Level 9 specialists in 2 roles each, and I have upgraded the weapons, and wanted to go back to the plains to whoop the enemies that whooped me silly 1st time round. :) And I wanted to try out a few of the Ci'eth stone missions (which I actively avoided before).

Sooo, How does Strength effect a Ravager, that uses the elemental strikes? If at all, I made the mistake of levelling the Gladius up, But ive decided to keep Light as a ravager now for a better stagger bonus, am I best off changing to another weapon now?

Are there any party's that are stronger than others? I`m currently using lightning, sazh and vanille. Also, what weapons/accessories are the best to upgrade?

I was thinking blastfire sabre for lightning for the mixed ravager/com role, max magic for vanille and a bias towards magic for sazh. Don't really want to commit as I don't know if it will all be a rather expensive mistake!

I would have preferred normal weapons that got better and a materia system :D

I find that Lightning/Fang/Hope offers the best balanced group whilst being great in their specialised roles.

What chapter are you on?

Might try that combo, I have barely used Hope at all. I think I have about 900k Crystarium for him, waiting to be used up and his weapon is left at level 10.

I have Fang with a level 61 and Lightning with Level 25 Gladius, but I am using Snow as the 3rd person in my party. Normally after I get stagger to about 300%-400% I do the Com/Com/Com and take enemies out very quickly.

I have the following set up for when I need them:
L/F/H
RAV/COM/RAV (Staggering and Damage)
RAV/COM/MED (Quick heal)
COM/SEN/RAV (Sponge for large mobs)
COM/SEN/MED (Quick heal when soaking up damage)
MED/SAB/SYN (Debuff/Buff on strong enemy)
RAV/COM/SYN (Buff while attack)

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get adamantite quickly. Without having to spend a fortune in the shop?... Finding the damn stuff harder to find than trapezohedrons lol.

Interesting, you have Light as a Ravager instead of Commando, is that because she is good as a Ravager or because Fang is better as a Commando?

And you never used RAV/RAV/RAV or is Fang not possible as a Ravager?

Lightning/Fang/Hope is pretty much one of the most balanced teams out there, especially even as the official guidebook recommends that too, but that doesn't mean you have to stay with them all the time once you are able to use anyone at will. It's the easiest team, but it more fun and challenging to try out different configurations.

Lightning is very balanced at both Strength and Magic depending on the weapon, so it's Commando and Ravager roles. Fang is just pure awesome as Commando, and Hope is exceptionally strong as a Ravager due to having the best Magic status.

Chapter 9 pretty much proves that these 3 work well together.
