*** Final Fantasy XIII ***

Found a good misson to farm for comps early on, misson 7 in chapter 11, reward for repeating gives 5 bomb cores, i currently have 25 of them which give 41325 xp ( x3 bonus) for upgrading weapons and if u sell them u get 600 gill each. Battle only last 36 seconds for me.

I farmed that one a bit, 55 nice Bomb cores, but if the boss actually dropped the items he was supposed to, it would be better. (Tiadric tiara and Crown, which are worth a fair bit). Also annoying cutscene you have to skip when activating the stone and then when fighting him.

If you are good with rare drops, then you can also get them off the Cryohedron (Blizzard version the of Bombs) in Mah'Habara and you can easily farm for CP here as well between the Maw of the Abyss and The Earthworks sections. Hoplites and Cyrohedrons are very easy and with a good party and pre-emptive strikes, you can gain over 20K CP in a matter of 5 minutes.

Have the 3 skills maxed out on all my toons at the moment, may start doing into the otehr 1s for the hp, str and magic.

Edit: lol guess what that misson just dropped a tetradic tiara :D cast about 4-5 things at the beginning of the battle, like protects, shell etc etc

Well...Sab\Sen\Sab is a GODSEND early on in Chapter 11. I'm beating things WAY above my paygrade. 3500CP a time from the big birdy thingy is a nice treat, and for less than a minutes battle.

is it better to upgrade one weapon at a time?

I would say so as it's best to prioritise on one thing first, though it really depends on which character and their weapon and what Paradigm role they will specialise or play as the most.

Mah'Habara is probably the best place, as if you get a pre-emptive strike which is pretty easy, you could do 5-20 seconds for 2000-5000 CP a battle on Hoplites and Cyrohedrons.

Well the last boss is ****, and not in a "hard as nails" way, it's just bad, forcing the player to upgrade an accessory that is miss-able because the boss casts ****ing death every bloody fight on no one but the party leader is not good game design.

This game fell apart for me as soon as I left pulse, it's just been constant battles of attrition since then or "you must be using this set up to pass" boss fights, it's like they ran out of ideas and just wanted to prolong the ending for hours because they didn't think it would feel "epic" enough otherwise.

God I'm bored of it.

I'm guessing the item you're referring to is the one which Death resistance on it. If so, i'm glad I got it.

The last dungeon is so tedious - not that the others weren't

I think it was a huge mistake not including any Towns. There is just nothing to break the game up at all. I enjoy taking a rest from fighting and exploring Towns. Hope the next installment brings them back.

Rumor has it Versus XIII has towns AND a world map.

The incredible disappointment of FFXIII has almost made me lose faith in modern gaming. It's really evident how much this game was compromised in order to make the mass appeal and graphics strong.

Well if you really think about it for storyline purposes, the characters were on the run as they are fugitive I'Cie's and chased throughout by the Sanctum, so it could be the reason for the forced pace and game design of the earlier chapters. I mean you still do have some short breaks and visit towns, but just not in the old fashioned tradition method. Nautilus could so have been this game's own version of the Gold Saucer from FFVII.

When it comes to Gran Pulse though, they could have added towns and civilizations right there, but for some reason chose not to. Have all humans died on Pulse?

Either way, should Square-Enix decide to do a FFXIII-2, I would love to see Pulse expanded so much more since obviously the areas in the game are only but a small section of what should be an entire planet. Cocoon is only just a small Moon.

Ok so I finally got the ******* with the cunning use of the "IWIN" accessory and Poison, I feel dirty for using it but yes, I sat there with 3 healers for about 5 minutes and let Poison kill the ******.

Nice ending, short but sweet.

So I was being overly mean in my last post, mainly due to failure induced rage, the last part isn't that bad, the entire return to cocoon is great right up until Orphan's Cradle, that really is poor. All in all though I loved it, it doesn't quite live up to VII or X as a whole game but it was definitely close, in terms of pure story however, I think it's my favourite so far.

Well then I guess all that's left to do is head to pulse and grind myself retarded.

I doubt they would since there isn't really anything that needs a further story, FFX-2 was pretty much a train wreck that most people (including myself) only bought for the ending. Everything in XIII is wrapped up, characters made their choices and were happy with them.

The whole J-Pop influence may be a turn off, but at least FFX-2 showed what happened and how the world changed after Sin was defeated.

There is still a much bigger world in FFXIII. The story of the main characters may be done for now, but there is still plenty of other subjects that could be developed more. What would lie in the future for the rest of the humans or other Fal'Cie out there since obviously they will never be finished.

Seeing as the Fabula Nova Crystallis collection is still ongoing, we may never know for sure.

I would expect FF13 versus will give us more of the world and from looks of the trailer, in a different time period? Did you notice some of the ruins looked to be office blocks on FF13, could Vs be set on pulse in a timeframe before FF13.

Yep that is what's interesting. What brings the Fabula Nova Crystallis games together is just the common myths and crystal themes. Should Versus be set in the exact same world as the main FFXIII game, in a different time period or an alternate universe, it could be something to add more.

Pulse was obviously a typical Earth-like place with similar Cocoon-like advanced technologies before it got ruined to the state it is in now, no thanks to whatever Fal'Cie or human involvement and from what we've seen/learned ingame so far.

I wonder what it was like during Vanille and Fang's original time and even before that, especially due to their tribal-like nature.

I suppose it could be possible but they would have allot of explaining to do. FFXIII told us that Cocoon was created ~1300 years before the start of the game, and Versus seems to be set in a time period close to our own. The connection may be there but if it is, it will be too long ago to have any real impact on either story and the world won't really be the Pulse from XIII.

Versus seems to revolve around the common FF premise of "Crystals = Magic = Power" whoever controls them has the power, they also have a habit of sending a group of useless and very unlucky burks off on world saving errands.

I think i found that creature that was mentioned in teh farming section that was guarding that bangle, 1st time i died, so picked up relentless assualt and dropped delta attack and was able to kill it on my second attempt, with sazh, light and fang.
